Weed frenzy!

I am not the world's best gardener and find it hard to do much with my arthritis.
I had a friend come help me mow the lawn (front and back) and tidy things up a bit. There were a load of dandylions in the front lawn which have sprung back with a vengeance now it's grown a bit, left it a good few weeks as the lawn was quite dry and brown underneath so wanted to let it recover.
There are a load of weeds out the back too which I need to zap with weedkiller, just need to find a cat friendly one. I initially pulled as much up as I could after I posted a previous questions a while back ( they are between the paving slabs as the lawn isn't so bad out back) but a lot have come back.
Anyone got any ideas how I can help deweed the front lawn without ruining it (full of dandylions!) and a cat friendly weedkiller I can use between the paving slabs in the back as my initial attempts failed?

Sounds perfect :) Will try and track some down in town or get up to a B&Q or similar.
Will need to co-ordinate keeping the cats in, do either of you know when it would be safe to let them back out?
Might warn the neighbours too as one of them especially lets their dog wander about and it tends to come on my front lawn. We get a lot of strays/escapees round here too, possible from living by a large park, would be harmful to them as well? I know dogs don't eat grass like cats do but I've seen a few scuffing up grass before now, don't dare try and get them away as you never know with stray ones if they might go for you so tend to get the cats in safe then me and keep my distance.
If it's harmful I can do it during the day when I can keep an eye. Also have a "spare cat" who comes in sometimes so can keep him away too.
