Do those on the political right really care about black street crime
...or do they revel in each new story?
I myself am doing my little bit to engage young black men because as a Londoner, I want my nephews and their children to be safe on the streets.
However, there seems to be a grown trend amongst those on the political right to jump on every story about black street crime almost as if they cared...but do they?
Or do they have another agenda?
Crocodile tears?
Real tears?
What's the story, morning glory?

I know what you mean...I hate all street criminals, but there seems to be, as sandyRoe has said, a kind of 'feeding frenzy' when a story involves a black suspect.
However, their silence when the suspect is white is almost as deafening as the sounds of their hands rubbing together when the suspect is black.
Give you an example....a few months ago, a gay chap was killed just off Trafalgar Square by a bunch of (white) yobs. This was a major news story - and I checked on AB for a couple of days - silence.
Same happened when that Big Issue seller was murdered...again - the suspects were caught and found guilty...but silence from those who profess to be concerned about street crime.
It's so puzzling.
(Except...it's not).

Believe me the Big Issue case was in my neck of the woods and I was not happy about it. Perhaps I should have raised a question, to be honest I cant remember why I didnt.
I am sure som epeople do relish in the 'black' storeies. Despite legislation prejudice does exist big time. Simply you cannot legislate aginst prejudice you need to educate and that takes time.
I know, easy for me to say, and not so easy for those on the recieving end. But it is the way of the world.

I don't think there's any doubt that some people jump on any bandwagon available and make a song and dance about it simply the sake of it, but I think some do genuinely care about what they see as a decline in our society - and rightly so. I agree with Youngmafbog when he says crime is crime regardless of the colour of the perpetrator, but black street crime among the young does appear to be on the increase, and denying it, as some here do, does nothing to cure the problem. The left are as guilty as the right inasmuch as rather than look any problem squarely in the eye, each side blindly champions it's own social/political agenda regardless of the potential consequences.

Actually I am sceptical about the figures on Black crime. The problem is that it is a self fulfilling prophesy. If you stop more blacks the fiure will rise then you wil stop more becasue of the figure.
We should forget colour of skin, religion race or creed and just come down very hard on those breaking the rules.

sp, your confession that you may have been tempted to gloat appears to support my theory that each side blindly champions it's own social/political agenda regardless of the potential consequences. Perhaps if you had posted questions on the crimes other ABers ignored, and looked at the answers from an unbiased perspective, you may have gained a different perception.
