I am sure I read a few months ago that a lot of this donated money was still sitting in banks because the powers that be could not agree on how to spend. Is this correct. or I have made a mistake?

I never donate to charity's anymore, if you send £20.00, the people in distress will be lucky to get £1.50 of it by the time the organizers have had their share.
yep no doubt they are trying to decide how they can best steal it. I'm with Trt, I never give to major charity, most of it gets ripped off.
no doubt some money, perhaps even interest - if such a thing is still available - might remain in the account.
