Job at Lower Pay

Hi

I am considering applying for a job which is less well paid than my current job. In an interview situation, how can I explain why I am applying for a lower paid job?

I want to leave my job as its stressful and I hate it and would be happy to take a lower paid job if I could do it well and stop worrying myself sick all the time as I am now. I don't mean a massive cut in pay...my job is under threat from redundancy and so I may not have a choice about moving jobs anyway, so do you have any advice how to handle this in an interview? Why would I actively apply for a lower paid job if I'm in employment? I need to convey how much I want the job and not focus on the impending redundancy.

(I know we are in a credit crunch and I'll be lucky to get another job anyway).

Thanks for your help.

"I enjoy working really hard and I love a challenge. I know that there's a great deal I could bring to this job and I also know that I'd enjoy doing it.

I enjoy my current job as well but I find that it doesn't allow me to 'switch off' at the end of the day; I'm still thinking about work when I'm at home. What I really want is a job where I can give everything when I'm at work but to be able to forget about work at the end of the day. This job seems ideal for me, and I hope that I'm the ideal person for the job"
