There is nothing wrong with giving british citizenship to those who marry.
This is about sham marriages which is a totally different scenario, is illegal and this vicar has been arrested for it.

My wife is Irish
Do I have to send her home?

When members of the clergy not only encourage but facilitate illegal entry into the UK there is no hope left.
There should be a complete ban on immigration for a period so that we can have a clear up and get rid of the undersirables already here.

Does that include Doctors? Nurses? IT experts?
This is a stupid argument. There are laws about sham marriages which are adequate. This vicar has been arrested and is suspected of acting illegally. The system works.
It is like saying if the police caught a foreign lorry driver for speeding, then all imports by lorry should be banned. Totally nonsensical and disproportionate.
The original question, in effect is saying people should not fall in love and marry anyone who is not English. Bonkers.

Yes! If you cannot solve the existing problems why create new ones.

So if you stopped foreign doctors coming here, who would treat the sick?
Have you been in an NHS hospital lately? It would cease to function if foreign doctors and nurses didn't come to work here.

If you actually read the linked article, it's obvious that we're not exactly talking about mass influx of illegals here.
One offence connected with illegal entry: not quite an unstoppable tsunami of clandestine wannabe "Brits" is it?
Personally, I'd mobilise Capt Mainwaring and his trusty band of storm troopers to nip it in the bud-right now!!!!

rov1200 - Harold Shipman killed many hundred of people,
If Doctors kill patients then surely "there is no hope left"
By your argument, should people be stopped from qualifying as a doctor until every doctor is checked to ensure that it can't happen again?

The vicar has been charged and in time, if he's convicted, will be dealt with by the courts.
An issue that hasn't got the publicity it deserves is the custom of forcing school children into 'arranged marriages' so that the new spouse, usually Pakistani, can come and settle here in the UK.
I wonder what value a UK passport adds to a dowry?

We hand out British citizenship far too easily, this is an award that should be earned. In fact they should first be put on probation for a period to see if they are worthy of being called a British citizen, and thus becoming the holder of that treasured document the British passport.
