Well D Day has arrived and the cat flap has been fitted courtesy of one of my lovely clients and his mate.

Just need to persuade him to work out how to use it now lol :)

He's looking decidedly uninterested at the moment though....watch this space!

who are you trying to persuade? your client or his mate?

(and are they dishy, and shall I come over??!)
When he wants to go out just hold the flap open for him so he can see outside. He will get used to it if he wants to go out badly enough

They are both lovely :)

Emailed my client to the other day as he tends to know people who can do all kinds of handy stuff and he came and measured up last night and brought his mate to fit it tonight.

They wouldn't take anything for it either bless em, said just a cuppa would suffice. Coming back at the weekend too to put some filler round it. His mate was worried I'd get cold due to the alight gap to be filled and they were arguing over who had the best, most expensive filler to use.

Such genuinely lovely lovely guys!

So sweet bless em,
restores your faith in human nature :o)

I've showed him a view times but given it a rest in case the neighbours think I'm nuts haha :)

Am seeing if he finds it himself at the mo but think he's decided it's a bit too cold outside.

Apparently he was doe-eying the lovely neighbours this morning looking all cold and need of attention.
Question Author
it does indeed :)
lol Jen... just post HC through the flap a few times from the inside... then go outside and post him back through it ! He will soon get the message !

I was going to advise you to get a Pet Porte cat flap (not cheap but really well worth their weight in gold) simply because it works off the cat's microchip... I have set mine to *vet*mode this week, so that the flap will only let my two wee Thugs out during the daylight hours (it locks when it becomes dusk and they can only come inside, not go out) and they don't get scared by all the bangers and fireworks... but I also gave them both some herbal chill out tabs.... at the moment both are knocking out the zzzzzz's on the sofa and paying the bangs and crashes outside absolutely no attention whatsoever...

Awwww :) he has a bog standard one from Argos.

He is still taking no notice and currently stretched out on my bed.

He's not been bad with the fireworks but wasn't too keen on the jigsaw the nice man was cutting a hole in the door with!
My Harvey Pickle Pants used to show off to us he could use the flap.. only we weren't that impressed as he and his bro were too young to go out and just kittens.. We thought they hadn't noticed the flap (for our other cat) and got home to find the house in chaos one night.. pot plants knocked over.. all the earth dug out and a wee in the pot!!!! Then Pickle was running out the flap.. and coming in.. and out and in and felt very pleased with himself! Hysterical!!!

Aww :)

Well he's sorted going out, just don't think he's quite sussed he can get back in yet. Been out loads but always waits til I come out to come back in.

I came home to find him sat outside waiting for me and tried to show him pratcially but giving him a bit of a gentle but encoraging shove so hopefully he has got the idea :)

He was so happy and affectionate bless him, a very very happy cat tonight!
i paid 90 for a microchip operated cat flap, the're brilliant but little Corky just thought I'd put him a little window in the door so that he could look up the garden. He's now mastered the art of going out through it but coming in is another matter, he just sits outside looking in and waiting for me to let him in, tried threading him in from the outside but he just sprags off the frame with his front legs!!! Anybody out there got any ideas? Even tried holding his favourite food treat so he could see it but still no joy!
Question Author
Have you tried popping him out before his dinner time and calling him in through the flap for his food?
Thanks, I will give it a try and let you know.

Jen I love hearing your stories about Heathcliffe!
And others cat stories too for that matter. :-)

My cat had the hic-cups last night. It was so funny to watch her bounce up when she hic-cupped. Didn't bother her at all though! Bless.
Don't try what I did with a 'dog flap'. My Hungarian Puli was completely incapable of copying my other dogs and just kept staring at it,, mystified as to what the trick was. So I put him down and stuck my own head through, by way of illustration. The other dogs thought this a great opportunity to give me a facial wash. And, of course, I had some difficulty getting my head back inside again, long enough for a passing 'friend' to take a photo!

Lol, love it :)

Well he can go in, he can go out, job done :)

The gentle shove technique seems to have worked, he went out this morning and I came down the hall to see his face ppering through the flap so gave him some gentle encouragement and he did it :)

Lovely client has just come to seal it up so he's just had some more fuss and attention and have some crafty bits of spare ribs left over from the chinese buffet at our works fireworks party earlier :)
