Hi! My child was on a news item at 6pm last night (4th Sept). I can view the item on itvlocal.com but would like to save it to my computer so we can keep it permanently. However, I can't find how to do this. There is an option to "share" the page so I did this by sending it to my e-mail address but it just appears in the e-mail as a link to the page. I think ITVlocal will remove the item later today as they replace it with the current day's news, so I haven't much time to sort this out! I should be very grateful if anyone out there can help me! Thank you

If you are able to download the clip onto your computer, you could then save it to disc. I'm ot sure whether ITV has the download facility on their website.
I have just opened the ITV local website. I clicked on the Lisa Potts story and the video opened in a small window. At the top of the window appeared a panel with the words 'Download this video now'. And I was able to record it and save it in Real Player.

Hope this helps

Hi Sir.prize. Thanks for help - however the item we want isn't listed as a separate news story. We can only see it when we actually replay the whole news programme from last night (it was on Thames Valley Tonight at 6pm) and there doesn't appear to be anyway we can save or download the programme.
Hi again

OK I have found the whole 30 minute programme you are looking for and there is a facility to download the whole video.

Click on this link

http://www.itvlocal.com/meridian/news/?player= MER_News_15&void=230284

First there will be a short eon advert and then the whole 30 minute programme from last night.

While the video is playing you should see a small panel above the picture which says downoad this video now.

Not sure - but you may need to have real player installed on your computer.

Come back if you need more help.

Good luck

Thank you! Unfortunately they've already overwritten last night's programme with the 11am news from this morning! But thank you for your help and at least I shall know for next time. I have e-mailed ITVLocal's technical desk to see if they can help, plus a friend recorded it from the TV last night so I can get a copy of that! thanks again. Enjoy the rest of your day!
I hope they will be able to help you.

If you click on the link I gave, you will see the programme is still online . . . .

Click on the link

Look to the right of the video playing and click on Latest News Bulletins

Click on Thames Valley

Click on 4/9/08 Evening

Was the story you wanted about school meals?

You clever person! Thank you! My only prob now is that the option to download isn't appearing as I don't think we've got real player on our computer. Do you know if I can download real player from somewhere, please? Thank you!

Really sorry to be a pain but I tried on my mum's machine (she has got real player - our computer wouldn't let me install it) but we still don't get the "download" option....Any suggestions gratefully received but fully understand if you are fed up to the back teeth with this......!
I do not understand why your computer will not allow you to download and install Real Player.

As I said with Real Player when you play the video from the Thames Valley website, an oblong panel appears above the video inviting you to download and it.

Also, you will see that in the Latest News Bulletns, they leave the evening programmes there for a week. They have added today's and now they go back to August 30th.

Don't know what to suggest now.

Hope you are successful in getting a copy, one way or another.
Use RealPlayer to record and save internet videos with a one-click download button.
The Web Download and Record feature identifies embedded videos on websites such as YouTube, MySpace, or TV station sites. A download button appears near each available video. Use the button to quickly download and save the videos directly to the My Library Downloads & Recordings category for viewing anytime, even offline.

Here is the link showing you more . . . ..

Type Real Player into Google and find an alternative download site and try to install on your computer.
