No it's just scaremongering. The situation they are recreating happens in the sky all the time as cosmic rays bombard the Earth's atmosphere.

I like this quote in the Telegraph link:

Such is the angst that the American Nobel prize winning physicist Frank Wilczek of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has even had death threats, said Prof Brian Cox of Manchester University, adding: "Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a ****."

Errr Gromit?
Is there a reason you put a quote from The Telegraph....and a quote from The Sun?

Do people have a choice of which one they want to read?

Well I think a definitive answer would be nice as I could then make an informed decision as to whether to finish these reports today and whether I should take the time over the weekend to have end of the world sex or not.

Make plans for end of the world sex anyway. Best be on the safe side.

I'd plump for the second option, China. If you are going, at least you'll go out smiling. ;o)

Square if its happening all the time then they can't go up there and study it? Why waste all that money building this contraption?
More to the point what will it achieve? The big bang happened I think even the average chav can work that one out. It happened a long time ago. Nothing can be changed by recreating it other than the possibility that we could all go bang again.
Oh well lets see what happens.

But how would they get up there?

If no-one experimented or discovered anything, we would still be in caves chipping flint. When the first trains were invented, people were afriad to use them in case they couldn't breathe travelling so fast.

Change always happens, no need to be afraid of it.
