£2,000,000,000 = Cost of UK army in Afghanistan 2008

£6,400,000 = Aid/Development (to Afhanistan Army)

Gordon Brown and most western governments give aid to a lot of undeveloped countries every year.
It always amuses me how you have access to a computer and internet then come on and Fugging BITC* and moan when our government try and help people who dont even have running, clean water. People really disgust me sometimes. what do you need more money for?
a loft conversion? what a fugging joke

The £6.4M is going to train the Afghan Army.

The sooner the Afghan Army get up to speed, the sooner we can get out of there and the sooner we can stop paying £2Billion to keep our army in danger there.

So did the countries that have gold mines just give us the gold then?

Kathyan,

Why do you think, when we had an Empire, we conquered places like India and Africa?

Clue: We didn't go there for the sunny climate.

America didn't care too much about Afganistan.

Until a bunch of maniacs trained over there flew jet liners into New York!

Tell you what let's just pull out and leave them to it and see what happens shall we?

I'm sure they won't bother us once we're gone!

After all with £60 million extra Gorden could buy us all half a pint of beer at Christmas!

For over 30 years this country and others have given Africa millions and millions of pounds, and instead of providing an improvement in living conditions some has been syphoned off to make certain people very rich and some has been used to buy armaments to start wars.

Why can't we send practical help? people on the dole for say 3 months sent to whereever to build schools, water treatment plants etc. If they leave a family behind don't alter their benefit claim. Government buy the bricks etc no actual money given then all the donations would actually start doing some good.

As things stand at the moment I also think that this money should be spent at home on pensioners and the disabled.

I sort of like you ingenuity their sandbach but i think your idea is very unworkable. There would be so many caveats and claims and issues with it I dont think you could make people go over there and work.

Brown pledges more help for Afghan army

And your answer is to send them our unemployed.
Target practice perhaps?

Most of this money is being given so they learn how to kill their own people or the ones who have learnt, they carry on killing.

But USA and Britain are probably not aware of a very common saying about Afghans.

1 - You can hire an afghan anytime with more than what he is getting from somewhere else, but you can never ever buy an afghan for good.

2 - Afghans just fight. And when they are not fighting, they must be preparing for the fight.

So you have an issue with racism when it's aimed at you, keyplus, but you're ready to dish it out to Afghans?

I still think you're some white college student writing 'keyplus' as a kind of comedy character. You're surely not for real. You can't be that dense.

Why thank you Quinlad. Was feeling particularly angry at that point and it just makes me so anry when people in this country have the best standard of living in the world and then come on here and moan about it!
Theres only really America in my opinion that can compete against us as the best place to live but until their healthcare system is sorted then I would still pick this country over USA.
