Young girl murdered in Brazil.

The terrible story in Brazil about a 17 year old English girl murdered by her boyfriend in Brazil, made me wonder...
What on Earth were the parents of this kid thinking when they allowed her to to go?

Yes that is what I thought when I read it .But perhaps her parents didn't have a say in the matter.

It's difficult to know (God rest her soul) but I would've thought that you could make her a ward of court or something.
But I understand exactly what you mean, sad very sad.

According to today's paper, she was somewhat of a rebel and out of control, so she did pretty much as she wanted.

Well maybe that's it what it gets you.
I blame the man for the crime, but you can't help but wonder what what's going on with this country that such a thing could happen.
She must have had to apply for a visa, was'nt she living with him in London?

Time to talk up marriage I say, someone should bring out a new policy the ring comes first.

She was 17. Plenty of girls and guys that age travel overseas. It was awful what happened. But if you had been told generally that a girl of 17 was on holiday with her boyfriend in Brazil, I'm guessing nothing would have been said except 'yeh and?'

Well no not really, 'd be very wary of letting a daughter of mine tracel that far (Spain even) at that age on their own so to speak.
I would not be at all happy if at 17 they were going to move in with their boyfriend in Dovecot let alone Brazil.
I just feel greater parental responsibilty should have been expressed up to and including the day she left.
