can you report a crime that happened 16 years ago??? I was beaten up outside a pub by my aunt and her boyfriend. i would like to prosecute her boyfriend for what he did. can this be done and what would be his penalty ?? i have witnessess to what happened.

I doubt you would get very far. Why have you left it so long? The Police will want to know that for a start.

How can anyone accurately remember what happened 16 years ago (the witnesses I mean, not you)? You won't have any evidence now either, such as bruises, cuts or other injuries, that would have proved your beating if you had reported it at the time.
No, I'm guessing aunts boyfriend has peed you off again. My guess is the police will just laugh at you

i left it so long because at the time it happened i was only18, living with my grandparents and my mum was suffering with a nervous breakdown so i didn't want them to have the stress of it all. now, the guy that beat me up is making his presence felt around where i live and now i think, why should he get away with what he did??? thanks for your answer.
he will get away with it because you didnt do anything about it. What if you not soing anything then might have made him go on to do something worse?
