According to the BBC, hundreds are marching in the streets of Khartoum to protest against the leniency of her sentence and are calling for her to be shot.
What do you think - should she be shot?

I think getting shot is a bit severe but she was pretty stupid naming a toy after one of their religious figures. I would have thought a teacher would have had a bit more common sense.
Let's go in and nuke them the prehistoric @rseholes.

While we are at it lets storm their embassy here and hang them all.

All muslims in our prisons should be force fed bacon sarnies.
Got to go before all the pebbles have gone, the woman next door is being stoned for giving the milkman a cup of tea.
i think everyone in the march should be shot! Thats the last time the country gets ANY aid from me I tell ya!
Why dont we just bomb the whole ferking place???

Stupid, backwards thinking idiots. Get with it people!

More_ham_ed, dont worry about the pebbles mate, i'll be the human shield, coz i totaly agree with you.
The Daily Mail put it better:

Thousands of knife-wielding Islamic fanatics today marched through Khartoum demanding the execution of teddy bear teacher Gillian Gibbons.

Of course she shouldn't be shot.

It has now reached the rent-a-mob stage. Nothing to do with teachers and teddy bears, but religious factions trying to out do each other in displaying how devout they are.

We should not forget, that our standing in the world (especially the Islamic world) is zilch.

Any chance to thumb their noses at a once great power now reduced nothing they will take.

And what can we do? Nothing, except have a stern word with their Ambassador. That will have them quaking in their boots.
To play devil's advocate though, if she has gone to their country, she should live by their rules and customs. It's no different from what we would expect in the UK.

Personally, I agree with you though and believe that they are currently at a stage of development that we were about 300 years ago. Witch burning and religion is the main factor in anything.
spaced,

You don't come across as someone who has been sending humanitarian aid to Sudan all these years.

I am sure they will miss your contributions now that you have decide not to send anymore.
I disagree squarebear she wasnt stupid at all . The class had voted to name the teddy mohamed after the most popular boy in the class what is wrong with that!this is just crazy and I agree spaced I would think twice about contributing to any aid appeals for sudan in the future.
Well we can actually.

Immediate expulsion of the Ambassador, no more aid with immediate effect and if they wont let her go and persist with threats to kill her - in go the troops.

We need to make a stand, they (Islamic fundamentalists) will persist until they they have dagged us back into 600AD
She's just lucky the savages didn't eat her.
Hisslam.......

Coming to Britain soon. Be very afraid.

We should demolish their embassy, declare war and arradicate them.

But if the class had suggested that she run outside naked, would she have done it? Sure take the children's suggestions but obviously use a bit of common sense when listening to them. If they had suggested calling it "fu*kwit the bear" would she have called it that? I don't think so.

As I say, I'm only playing devil's advocate and believe that it has been nlown out of all proportion.
Already here whiffey, our mayor is a muslim.
I always thought that muhammed was our equivalent of mister. All the muslim men seem to have it as a first name.
I know the phrase when in Rome etc.... but a lot of muslims don't seem to abide by that when they come to live here.
kkkk
Well they should do or be kicked out.
yes, no point in blaming it on the children, squarebear. After all, who was teaching them?

It's odd, whiffey keeps telling me to be afraid (in what I imagine to be a Schwarzenegger-like voice, possibly digitally enhanced with gin) and yet I'm not. I walk the Islamic streets of Britain every day, quite fearless.
