Earlier today we had fishermen having to dump cod into the sea because we are not allowed to land them - stocks have to be preserved!!
Later today, once again our Chancellor is having to "apologise" for an idiot in the Inland Revenue who has lost computer disks with the personal details of 15 million people who get Child Benefit (all of them presumably).
Yesterday we had Mr Darling explaining it was all the press's fault for the problems at Northern Rock (no, it was because they borrowed money they couldn't pay back!). Now we have Paragon in trouble with the same thing.
Now down in the South West, we have the local water authority going into the timeshare business by building lots of timeshare flats by a reservoir in an area of outstanding national beauty.

All this and Gordon Brown fell asleep during the Remembrance Day service!

You couldn't make it up!

Does the government run your local water authority?

I seem to recall Mrs. T had a garage sale and sold them all off?
I am disappointed your thread is so short.

What about in the last week alone Royal Mail bosses getting an 40 percent pay rise when many posties work minimum wage?

Kiddy fiddlers being let off prison when Poll Tax dodgers do 6 months.

Killer immigrants being released from prison and told they can stay in the UK.

Petrol over 1 per litre

Inner city schools to get Urdu and Arabic translators paid for by the state.

I must stop now as my blood pressure is getting higher.

All your and mine in just week in merry old England.

Welcome to the Pleasure Dome.
bewlay every govt is the same - i.e. pants

Lets see 18 years of Conservative rule:

Record unemployment
15% interest rates
Poll tax & subsequent riots
Vat increased from 15 to 17%
How many home repossessions
blah
blah

Whilst I have a brief interest in politics thats as far as it goes, whoever is in power will screw u one way or another so just pay no attention lol.

I agree Bewlay Bros, but if I put down all the ****-ups I would still be typing!

Our water company is owned by the French, but I bet the local planners will think it is a good idea!

Now don't get me started on them!

If you look carefully, you can see most of the government in there - all parties!

My Dad always said he voted for the Independent - only his Mum and Dad vote for him and he is going to abolish taxes and increase wages, lock miscreants up for good and let the rest of us get on with our lives - sounds good to me!

Which Muppets were you thinking of?

Can I nominate Alistair Darling as Sam The Eagle?
Rev Funk.

The Tpries had a few faults but so much good was done by Baroness Thatcher and then Major, it far out does the good.

1) No nonsene with the Falklands

2) Right to buy council homes

3) Privatise money losing public sectors

4) A decent seperation from Europe

5) Strong family values

6) Promotion of natural competetion

7) Better conditions for ALL servicemen and policemen

8) Better criminal convictions.

9) No bloody Human Rights!!!1

I could go on, but sadly all people see is the erosion of a few villages lost by the mining community. Under Thatcher, poor people had a better chance of becoming rich. Ill educated people had a better chance of becoming educated and ill people had a better chance of recovery.

We were a safer nation. We had better control of our borders. We quite righfully maintained full control of Northern Ireland.

So what if she took free school milk away??? Hardly that bad a thing, though I will introduce it again if I was PM.

Long live Thatcher and may the one-eyed piece of scotch filth that runs this once great country die in a painful burned manner like the poor victims of terrorism he so sickenly ignores the rights off.

Sorry I rushed my first paragraph so fast in an eager attempt to praise Baroness Thatcher, it doesn't make much sense.

You know what I mean anyway!!!!!
Bewlay we could argue for months about this party did this this party did that.

Strong family values? Ah yes John Major when he was having an affair with Edwina Curry.

Privatisation - A brilliant idea if you had a spare 500 quid to invest

What was inlation under the Tories/ 10 percent I seem to remember.

Bottom line is all politicians/parties are the same - in it for their own selfish reasons and couldn't give a monkies chuff about the person on the street.

It all goes over my head and I know that whoever is in power things aint going to change

Please don't vote to bring back school milk - I hated it!!
I never drink milk on its own due to years of having it force fed! (children starving in Africa etc.)

Wasn't it gross when the teacher defrosted it on the radiator and it was all separated and warm!!

It doesn't matter who wins an election, the government always get in.
Other Labour "triumphs" include
1. Millions wasted on the ID card scheme
2. Millions wasted on naff computer systems for the Inland Revenue, Tax Credits office, CSA, Passport Office, NHS, etc etc
3. The Millenium Dome (how many millions wasted?)
4. Unclean hospitals
5. Allowing houses to be built on flood plains
6. Introducing PCSO's to watch children drown
7. Big brother surveillance on every street corner
8. Dumbing down of GCSE's & A levels
9. Putting the nail in the coffin for marriage

There are loads more things I could rant about but just thinking about them is bringing on a headache.
Goes to lay down in darkened room with a stiff drink
I loved free scool milk!!!!

The thing is whole milk (unless you have a strong lactose intolerence) is so healthy for kids and adults alike.

Especially for girls, I understand. If their milk intake was increased as children, it would halve osteo-arthiritis (sp?) and brittle bones which women get when they are old.

But even for boys as well, milk is so much better than fizzy pop and even some fruit juices.
i know milk is good for us Wardy, but it tastes awful with gin
The millenium dome was inherited by labour from the tories.
Details, details skreech
I agree with Reverand - every government will mess things up and not do enough for the good of the people.

It seems every politician is in it for the salary and bonuses - don't any of these people actually want to help this county? The things mentioned on here just depress me, why don't any of the politicians seem to care about all the awful things happening?

This county has just gone completely down the toilet and no-one who can do anything about it seems to want to.
