Is it possible to have an English national identity that is inclusive and multicultural? It seems to me that the English (by which I mean everyone born in England, regardless of racial type) are divided between those who don't want to be English, and those who are anti-foreign. The self-haters and the Little Englanders. When will the people(s) of England develop a proud English identity that is not based on race?

I really don't think that society has come that far yet. We are still a country of bigots, fascists, racists and unfortunately until this goes the divide I fear will always be there.
Certainly not to the outside world at large...your tarred with the brush of the skinhead lager lout, possible borderline nazi, who draped in the St. Georges cross (or worse, the union flag) goes around terrorising locals from all foreign parts....This is the outside view (stereotypical I'll grant you of the englishman) so why would any young asian or african person want to aspire to this? Until the problems of large inner cities are tackled, then the NF have easy targets and the mindless thugs who join into this mindset are all to easily lured in by their blame the "paki" he's stealing your job mantra......So the long and short is No...I don't think it's possible, not in the short term anyways.
