Whenever I see news propaganga of the celebrations on the streets, people are carrying placards with a man's face on them. Who is this man?

He has a beard and headthing if that narrows it down at all. Thanks.

As soon as you stick a beard and a head thingy on they all look the same to me

It'll be hard to find pictures of people showing the opposite reaction due to the curfews imposed in certain Sunni areas and his hoe town, and then the possibilities of being shot as an "insurgent" / "the remains of Sadam followers".
I think you are refering to the late Shi'ite leader Mohammad Baqir Al-Hakim.

He was was one of the foremost Shia Muslim leaders in Iraq until his assassination in a bombing in Najaf. He was the son of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Muhsin al-Hakim Tabatabai, the worldwide leader of Shia Muslims from 1955 to 1970.
