Day-by-day online chronicle from January 1st 2000 to the present day

Is there a website online that gives details of news stories mostly British (and major international news stories i.e. September 11th) every day from January 1st 2000 to the present day in chronicled diary type-entries?

For example, not too many websites give details of what happened in the United Kingdom on Auguist 30th 2002 as not too much happened on that day. Although BBC and the Telegraph have such information, you do need to search and it isn't set in a diary-type way. The cloest I have found is Wikipedia, but that is not very British based with many dates overlooked between 2000 and 2005. Anyone have any ideas?
