Sir-nan, Nan as in Nanook of the North...
Eugene Andrew Cernan, son of a Czech mother and a Slovak father, received his father's name which was originally spelled as Ondrej Čerňan [pron. Ondrey Chernyan] before it was Americanized.
It's spelt "Raymond Luxury-Yacht" but it's pronounced "Throat-wobbler mangrove".
One of my first boyfriends had the surname Cearns and I never did find out whether it was pronounced Searns or Kearns!
