Jo Whiley did a feature on these barbie type dolls that were modelled around 'american trailor trash' the dolls were complete with missing teeth, mullets and voice boxes that made references to incest and alcohol abuse. The whole feature was based upon the hilarity of these dolls. Is it ok to laugh at that sub-section of society in these days of being very PC and sensitive? Is it ok to pigoen hole people who cant afford permanent housing and base stereotypical images on them? Would Jo Whiley have featured a border-hopping Mexican with bandana and low-rider, or a crack-dealing, gun toting black drug dealer from the ghetto doll?

probably from Goys R Us
Here you go gerkin - just for you, they are $33 http://www.trailertrashdoll.com/
what would happen if I made Ma Muslim Extremist one, I could have a suside bomber, a beheader, maybe a chemist mixing anthrax, and one with a hook for a hand. They could say things like ''I want to kill all the infidels'', ''do you know the way to Finsbury Park'', ''I know my rights'', and ''its ok I have just got my benefits''. I think they wouldn't be so popular maybe?
I actually think admarlow that you'd become a millionaire overnight, as a lot of people would probably buy those, tasteless and stereotypical as they are:)
I think Id get hung drawn and quartered, look what happened with just a few cartoons!
*burns embassy*
Need I point out that white kids played with ********* for decades???

One doll and you're all up in arms. Lord...when then the shoe's on the other foot!
Oh hell...I got blanked...the word I used was...was...the black character who used to appear on the side of Robinson's jam jars.

You know what I'm talking about.

Also, American trailer trash is just the latest in a long line of ironic dolls...you remember that show 'The PJs'? Well when I was in the States, there were dolls of those...including a black crack dealer.

So c'mon people...don't see PC reverse racism where it doesn't exist.

I want to know when they're going to create a late thirties underacheiver doll in a dead-end blue collar job complete with unmanagable mortgage and car that scrapes through a MOT each year. Get the demographic right!
SP the thing is that with everyone has been forced to hide their ********* (rightly or wrongly...I think wrongly) did you know its illigal to have one in a playgroup! Anyway, I just feel that it should be the same rule for everyone, just imagine if I did make my extremist dolls (I am currently in talks with Mattel).
Admarlow, people aren't forced to hide their gollies at all. A guy near us had his "arrested" for a while but they gave them back to him, realising they'd been a bit too PC and due to public outrage but that's a very isolated incident and not at all the norm, and under what legisaltion could it possibly be "illegal" to have a golly in a playgroup, they are not an illegal item, are not a hazard to children so how can they possibly be illegal?
The wife of my friend owns 2 playgroups, along with ********* being banned, so are all enid blyton books, plus if you have any dolls there has to be a certain ratio of black and white ones.
well, that's not 'everyone is forced to hide them', then , is it admarlow? And are you really saying it's illegal to have them, and Enid Blyton books, in any playgroup anywhere? Enid Blyton illegal?
Sorry probabily used the wrong word, not illigal but Banned. If you did you would probabily loose your licence to have a playgroup not go to prison.
