Shepherd's delight I think.

We always say shepherd's delight, but perhaps that is because we live in the country, and nowhere near the sea.
i live near the sea, and i've always heard shepherd's delight.
I live on an 8ft by 6ft rock in the south Atlantic, and it's still shepherds. The only thing that delights sailors is an extra tot of rum.
I believe its in the Bible, or something similar, and there it says Shepherds.
no no Lonnie that's 'while shepherds washed their socks by night...' It's just a folk saying. (The second line is 'red sky in the morning, shepherds' warning'.)

hehe - that was a song going round in the 40s when my dad was a kid ( i don't know if it was around earlier than that though) "while shepherds washed their socks by night all seated round the tub, a bar of sunlight soap came down and they began to scrub"

but yeah... i've always heard 'red sky at night shepherd's delight, red sky in the morning shepherd's warning'

in ref to the sailors... the only quote i can think of is when it is cloudy and theres a tiny patch of blue sky visible, i've heard peole say 'enough blue sky to make a pair of sailor's trousers'

*shrugs*

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.

Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

We always mixed it when we were kids. Shepherds delight - sailors take warn.

yes its shepherds delight.

Or the saying I recently heard "Red sky at night shepherds delight. Drowned sheep in the morning global warming".

I always heard:

Red Sky At Night, Shepards Delight

Red Sky In The Morning, Sailors Warning

When red the sky, shepherd's pie,
When it be blue, Irish stew...
Red sky at night nuclear strike
Red sky in morning nuclear strike

Red Sky @ night Shepherd delight

Red sky in morning shepherds cottage is on fire

I am an old lady who lives in the Southern US and my Grandfather always said:
Red at morn - shepherd's warned.
Red at night - shepherd's delight.
