At least five killed and several in critical condition after Sydney shopping centre attack

From the pictures I've seen on Twitter it looks like the ROP

naomi - //

//At the 2021 census, the number of ancestry responses categorised within North African and Middle Eastern ancestral groups as a proportion of the total population amounted to 3.2%.//

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_African_and_Middle_Eastern_Australians //

The percentages are not important - your link and mine both indicate that the notion of someone 'looking like an Australian' is entirely fatuous.

looks like a muslim to me.

andy hughes, //nearly twenty per cent of the population look like him.//

That isn't true.  As has been pointed out there are many of Asian heritage in Australia but only 3.1% of them are likely to look anything like the suspect.

Actually, it would be even less than that if you discount the women of North African/Middle Eastern descent.  They don't have beards.

Naomi - Rather than getting bogged down in the statistics, can we agree that in a multi-cultural society like 'Australia' the notion that someone does not 'look like an Australian' is a baseless observation.

"his attack is not thought to be terror-related."

Just another mental case then. These things happen, we wish they didn't, but they do.

andy hughes, you introduced statistics into the mix but I can well understand why anyone would say the suspect doesn't 'look' Australian.  If you had to guess I'm willing to bet that wouldn't be your first choice.

Unlike a section of the AB, I don't like to make assumptions about people based on how they look.

I get it all the time, and assumptions about me are entirely wrong, so I endevour not to visit cliched assumptions on other people.

I'm sure "not looking like an Australian" just means the infiltrators wasn't aboriginal. They're the only residents who can claim they look like proper Australians.

except aborigines (quite distinctive in appearance) ALL Australians are immigrants or descended from. end of

Dave - Do you end your posts with the phrase 'End of ...' because you are saying that this is the last word, and no-one else needs to bother adding anything.

Or is it simply a phrase that you add in for no particular reason?

like most of your posts A-H - no particular reason!

dave - // like most of your posts A-H - no particular reason! //

Not like any of my posts then - they all have reasons.

A-H you take yourself & this forum altogether too seriously.

Dave - I know.

Well, I doubt Joel was Asian, Muslim or indeed indigenous.

But from the comments I've read from both threads concerning this atrocious attack it's obvious some ABers are xenophobic, racist, narrow minded tee what's.

Alf Garnett and Eddie Booth have both been resurrected with pride.

Rule Brittania!!!

At least you could spell Sydney correctly Webbo, unlike the Mensa member with "super powers" that dumbs everyone else into abject stupidity 🤣

//except aborigines (quite distinctive in appearance)//

Wrong Dave, not all indigenous people are black as charcoal with nostrils like a low land gorrila, once again you are showing your complete ignorance, but don't let that stop you making a fool of yourself 😒
