Lee Anderson. Elected as a Tory but jumped ship when they suspended him because he wouldn't apologise for comments he made about Sadiq Khan:

cor! i think i'd probably join reform too for that! ;)

It's quite obvious that there is a wide devergence of views of MPs within both major parties. Now "real" Tories have somewhere to go if their party enforcers shun them.

Maybe Corbyn will construct a party that the "real" Labourites can join.

"I would say deputy chairman is high ranking"

He's not even one of their current deputy chairmen 😂

is anderson a "real tory"? what even is such a thing? he clearly isn't a conservative in the typical sense... he appears to just mouth off whatever reactionary rubbish comes to mind

Well, he's earned a living as a miner at the coal-face. Not many in any party can say that.

The thing is that illegal immigration, or immigration generally for that matter, isn't a left vs right issue. It's just the political parties that are supposed to be left and right leaning have different tactics to tackle the problem. The Tories like to talk about what they are going to do to solve it, but spoilers & blockers aside, they still actually do very little. Whereas Labour give the appearance that their solution is to think it is ok, and are happy to let it get as bad as possible. Given that, one might think support for a third option may come from voters of both persuasions. After all, worse comes to worst, it'd still stop the present useless parties, and it need only last one term.

Add to that the need to take action on other issues, such as removing wokeness and bringing sanity back, and maybe the electorate may wake up to the need to vote for change, if change is ever to become a possibility.

I'm sure his constituents will admire the loyalty of ex-Labour, ex-Tory Mr Anderson.

Exactly and to be fair to them it's a very difficult problem. The only advantage Reform has is that it's not in power and can propose solutions that sound tough but unlike the government those measures won't be seen to fail

//The only advantage Reform has is that it's not in power and can propose solutions //

That's true of ANY opposition party.

Except Labour doesn't appear to be proposing any solutions at all.

Commeth the hour, commeth the man. 🤸‍♂️

Labour does have solutions - whether they'll work or not: the point I was making was the second bit you missd out : they don't have to try them out. Many question the wisdom of the Tories making such a thing about an issue they cannot handle: but they are worried about Reform.

Reform don't have to try then out ... and never will of course

the government have tried to reform asylum, get blocked by labour the lords and courts, pushing water up a hill, can they not say somethoing along the lines of national security trumps courts labour and the lords, and just deport them all, i think the majority of the country would  back it.

Agree fender - one way and onther the actual government of this country isn't actually allowed to govern any more. It must be so frustrating to be a politician I wonder why anyone bothers!

How have Labour stymied the Tories' asylum policy? The Conservatives have had a healthy majority all through this Parliament: unfortunately it is not in any case within the power of the government to reform the asylum rules: they are a part if international agreements, and even if they did it would not stop illegals. Labour has said that they would invest in assisting the French to actually physically stop people trying to cross, in targeting people traffickers, and in clearing the backlog of asylum claims. Not very headline grabbing, but what the Tories have tried has not worked. No use blaming others. We have couerts and lawa for a reason and if you flout them they won't be there when you need them yourself.

Someone to balance out George Galloway in parliament.

^^ Yes Stableford;  Jew-hating George and his Muslim supporters won't be happy bunnies.

I think Lee Anderson has done the right thing from his point of view: he plainly is closer to the idea of the Reform Party and had been drifting away from mainstream Toryism, if he was ever there. If I was the Conservatives I'd be glad to be shot of him.

Labour will clear the backlog of asylum claims by rubber stamping them all.  Magic!
