this is the right thing to do in my opinion and inevitable, but can we now expect marches in london against it, joined of palestine and yemeni marches against pro zionist crusader islamophobes, just wait for the pictues to come out of civilians killed, obviously women and children and an obligatory hospital and school.

Khandro (sigh) did you not actually read my previous posts? Esp the one at 8.32, which I'm not going to go through all over again.

"it appears to be also protecting the interests of Brussels who (as yet) have said nothing that I can find,"

The Netherlands (an EU member I believe) participated in this. But the EU is not a military power so it can't do anything. Your obsession with the EU is pushing you off course

^^ OK I withdraw some of my comment, but it doesn't alter the fact that the EU which is seriously effected, seems to be slow in taking a stance.

I think The Netherlands has spoken out independently, but they are heading for Nexit anyway.

Several other EU countries  one being Denmark have issued a joint statement in support of this and why wouldn't they. Their EU membership doesn't prevent them from participating militarily should it be needed

Whatever is going on in western politics, we need to think above it.  This, I fear, is really going to kick off - and that isn't a pleasant prospect for any of us.

I agree Itch - there is an elephant in the room or no elephant in the room ( empty room)

Hungary at Putin's bidding has been slowing the EU response, I thought everyone knew that

but it doesn't alter the fact that the EU which is seriously effected, seems to be slow in taking a stance.

the fact that the EU  (is) slow in taking a stance.

observable fact compared to the response of other countries

As far as Orban and the EU and Ukraine is concerned the EU is apparently trying  to counteract that by simply allowing individual countries to send aid and claim it back. Ultimately I believe they have the power to exclude Hungary from the voting. However I thought I heard that Orban was coming round: possibly because of the above.

On the bombing of Ansar Allah, you would hope - I've no idea if I'm right - that the allies would be conducting attacks that will actually work - and not just a sabre rattling exercise

"the fact that the EU  (is) slow in taking a stance. observable fact compared to the response of other countries"

Why does that matter? Do you think the EU is against this?

er quick response = fewer ships attacked in Bab el Mandab - I an clearly see I am on my own in this

What you think that if Ursula von der Leyen makes a quick public statement it's going to scare off the bad people? I think I may have found a point on which khandro and I might agree there!

They knew what the consequences of their actions would be, and they attacked shipping in the Red Sea regardless. They made that bed, they now have to lie in it.

The EU has nothing to do with this, we really need to stop the politiking and focus on the real problems here.  And I say that as a staunch 'Brexiteer'.

Of course the UK and the USA had good reason, the Houthi's attacked our military vessels as well as our unarmed ships.  But it appears we have been supported by other Nations like The Netherlands.

Europe’s economy is starting to feel the first wave from the Red Sea shipping disruptions.

The latest Kiel Trade Indicator released Thursday shows the European Union’s imports dropped 3.1% in December from the previous month and exports were down 2%. In Germany, the world’s No. 3 exporter, imports fell 1.8% and exports were off 1.9%.

France refused to sign statement supporting coalition strikes on Houthis despite presence in Red Sea

Macron government says it wants to maintain a mediator role in the region after Washington and London took action against the rebels.

Just sayin' 😏

That's disappointing but not wholly surprising

It took Macron months to realise Putin didn't want phone sex with him 😃😃😃

//Macron government says it wants to maintain a mediator role in the region after Washington and London took action against the rebels//

Interpretation. We are going to suck up to the terrorists with a view to selling them more ammo and chances to stab UK and America in the back to gain political leverage with China and my hearthrob Putin.

Question Author

houthi's hoping to unite the muslim world against the demon west perhaps, nothing about houthi piracy in arab news erm. as an aside iv read this, makes sense! https://www.quora.com/Why-does-Islam-have-a-problem-with-all-religions

The Houthis have got at least one stalwart supporter who crawls among us.

Old Jezza (aka magic grandpa) is back at it again, this time leading the cry against the UK and US’ military action in Yemen against the Islamist rebel Houthi group, blasting the government’s decision as “reckless“.

Just to remind you: Houthi’s slogan is “God is great, death to the US, death to Israel, curse the Jews, and victory for Islam.”
