No - too much info required.

Yes.

Signed

I won't sign it yet.
I agree with some issues that are mentioned, like T and LGB being lumped together. It all does concern me so I will keep reading about these things.

I decided to sign after all (because I do support it), and lie on the details required - but then i was scuppered by the false e-mail.  [sigh]

I've signed it mainly for the sporting aspect, simply because I feel men competing against women is unfair on women who sacrifice a lot to become as good as they can be, only to be trounced by men identifying as women.

It's cheating.

I am conflicted because this aggressive push from the trans lobby and the travesty of trans women competing in sport distresses me but I have compassion for the many trans people who have lived their lives privately and with dignity for many years and are now suffering because of the hostility this lobby is causing.

I will have to give it a great deal of thought.

I entirely agree Barry, if some people feel they are genuinely in the wrong body and wish to transition, bloody good for them and I wish them well (I genuinely believe this despite one member of AB, who is so achingly right on he's a parody, disbelieving me) I really do believe it.

When they're an adult.

I'm steadfastly against children being allowed to do it, often with the connivance of schools wishing to appear achingly right on, and I'm most definitely against men having gone through puberty being allowed to compete against real women.

Just don't expect me to believe they're real women, because they aren't, never will be and never can be.

I agree entirely deskdiary, very well put.

We are very much of the same mind on this issue, Desk

I suppose the 'support our work' part comes after signing.

On the sport issue, I think the way to go will be classification, similar to Paralympic qualifications. Look at words like this:

https://www.paralympic.org/athletics/classification

Classification determines which athletes are eligible to compete in a sport and how those athletes are then grouped together for competition in order to minimise the impact of the athletes' impairments on sport performance. This is done to safeguard the integrity of fair competition.

//This is done to safeguard the integrity of fair competition.//

Keeping men out of women's sports would more easily satisfy the requirement.

How is that different to what I said, Naomi?

I agree with the others.  Some people do genuinely feel that they have been born into the wrong gender.  But it is a tiny percentage of people and they deserve our support and empathy.

As a person with long-term mental health problems my addled brain often comes up with ideas like "if I buy a soda stream I will start to drink more healthily". I became obsessed with this idea and, eventually,  bought a Soda stream, which sits on the worktop and is ignored.

I feel that one reason that some people want a sex change is due to an extension of the above faulty thought process.

The professionals who enable this to happen are not doing anyone any favours.

😵

Unless I misunderstood your post, I didn't think you'd suggested automatically separating men from women, ellipsis.

Then you did misunderstand. At a basic level there would be four categories: cis men, cis women, trans men and trans women. But maybe it would be broken down even further, using classification analogous to the Paralympics.

Oh, I see.  OK.

"...cis men, cis women, trans men and trans women..."

I'll fix it...

"...men, women, trans men and trans women..."

A thought.  If they have separate categories specifically for transgender people I wonder if there will be enough entering to make a competition?  I think it'll probably be very thin on the ground.
