This tree and where it was, was a special place for people here in the NE, we are gutted this has happened, my daughter and Sil walked 12 miles of Hadrian's  Wall for Children's Cancer last Sunday, and a few days later after seeing it , it has been cruelly  taken down in a sickening act of lunacy

The comment I want to make would never get through the swear filter, Bobbi.

That beautiful tree, loved by so many 🌳💔

We thought there must have been someone else with that young boy.  I wonder if it was done for spite,  for what ever reason.. Such a crying shame.

there's all sorts of stuff circulating right now but people up here knew the 16 yr old wasn't on his own in this terrible act of vandalism

I will never understand the human psyche.  Why would anyone want to destroy something so beautiful, harmless and cherished?  What sick satisfaction would you get from doing something like that?

Is it just to get attention?

Question Author

they walk among us Lcg

We were talking about this earlier.

Teenage boys do stupid things, but this was planned in advance.

My main question is ... Why??

Wolfe many are asking the same Qs, one theory ( allegedly) is of someone being sacked by the National Trust

Perhaps Sunak can built a road through it now 😀

Question Author

at his peril Gromit

It just seems so pointless Bobbi.

Gromit, I could believe it if Boris was still PM.  Sunak seems to be ytoo nice.

Question Author

the perpetrator is one of the most hated from Wallsend to where the wall starts I would imagine

Bobbi, us Scots have a heart too!

It makes me sad that someone would do something as nasty as this.

Question Author

yes, most Scots are very akin to us Geordies Wolfe, in lots of ways, the dialect may differ and meanings  and words might change, but that's all

someone paid a 15 y o to take a chain saw to the tree

most likely the owner of the land ( cui bono etc)

I've not read today's reports, but last night it was being said that only someone with experience of felling trees could have taken the tree down so well. Not a 16 year old.

Disgusting thing to do by disgusting excuses for human beings. Should be made to plant a tree for each year that one stood.
