During the last lockdowns, I was allowed to go to work
(I couldnt drive a van from home for christsakes).
I had to use public transport to get my place of work and collect my van.
I had to go shopping, for both myself and my terminally ill mother.
But was told by a home visiting MacMillan Nurse that I couldnt see her???
So... during my working day, I came into contact with hundreds of people during the course of my work, my shopping and on public transport.
But I couldnt see my dying mother??
Anyone see a problem here while Boris was partying?
Anyway...thankfully...I totally ignored the nurse.
(I couldnt drive a van from home for christsakes).

I get really quite angry how we dealt with Covid.
I know I should let it go now that Covid isn’t really a ‘thing’, but the fact a poster has suggested a new strain has really *** me off.
Covid is endemic.
If people for some perverse reason are still shi-t-ing bricks, that’s their problem and they will have to deal with their mental illness without losing the plot and expecting rational people to fall in line.
Get a grip.

Thank you for admitting you dont really know and that your statement "Well I, and others, have been proven correct." is unfounded opinion.... valid opinion but more valid than someones opinion that lockdown saved us from much more serious problems.
We seem in a very different position now, especially as we have vaccines, and the virus seems to have settled down to another flu type virus , so I dont think we'll need another lockdown or anything like it.... unless a totally new virus comes along thats as deadly and worldwide. and not covered by the vaccine, as corona/covid was in the first 12 months

Lockdown brought out the worst in people, especially in the shopping malls and supermarkets where the staff and security behaved like camp guards. And none of it was necessary. Not according to one expert in the DM today who was part of the team that compiled the procedures in case of a pandemic. When the time came to implement them in 2020, they were completely ignored. Now we're wasting millions on a needless inquiry.
No one needs a mask. It is clear they made no statistical significance. Unless you feel particularly vulnerable you don't need vaccination. We don't go panicking with other viruses. No one ever needed a lockdown, that was from the control freaks ignoring the science, seeing their will complied with by the hoi polloi, and ruining the economy.
Let's hope all those who fell hook, line, and sinker for it last time have now the experience to be a little wiser in future.

Is it only Covid they are vulnerable to, or is it all infectious respiratory diseases? Leaving aside the issue that flimsy face coverings afford virtually no protection to either the wearer or those around them, if they are vulnerable to all such diseases, and you believe face coverings are of benefit, you should have always worn one, and continue to wear one so long as you are breathing.

That is a statement of almost unbelievable ignorance and arrogance. The SARS-Cov-2 virus is now endemic across the world and will continue to be so for generations to come. We shall all be exposed to it multiple times in our lives, most of us already have been. I don’t know what “selfish activities” you are referring to, but if you mean having the effrontery to wander the streets without a flimsy face covering, you may like to study what good (or not) doing so does. Then, of course, there is nothing to prevent you from donning one, but you’ve no right to accuse those who decide to behave normally of being selfish. If you mean wanting to mix closely with other people, socialise and generally behave in a normal manner, you should realise that interaction with others is an intrinsic part of human behaviour. It is essential and not an optional activity that can be prohibited on the whim of foolish politicians.
The way the UK government dealt with the pandemic was nothing short of criminal. The after effects of Covid will be soon in the past for the vast majority of the population. But the after effects of the government's actions during it will be felt for generations to come.

I get really angry with the was our Government dealt with Covid - they used a sledgehammer to crack a nut - and I save a very special loathing for people who accuse those of us who were more mentally robust of being Covidiots and Granny Killers.

It wasn't just this government though. I had colleagues in Europe who couldn't leave the house without 'papers' to say they were on their way to work. Boris was right when he said we would acquire herd immunity - trouble was he was leaned on by SAGE. I`ve been in the Far East during SARS in the past, Mexico during HN1 or whatever it was called, Brazil during Zika. Nobody really gives a *** until it all affects the West.
When the pandemic started we had no accurate test let alone a simple at home one, we did not know how it was spreading, there was no knowledge of how best to treat it, and because of that people died some of which we would now expect to survive. We are better equipped to manage it, it has probably become like many viruses more infectious but less virulent ( a successful virus wants it's host alive and able to spread it)
But it still poses a risk to certain vulnerable groups so there is still a need for vaccination, in the same way we vaccinate against the most likely strains of flu, and it still poses a problem for the health service, and employers as many of those who catch it, like with flu don't feel well enough to come to work ( or because of the work they do e.g care staff and healthcare workers) are not allowed to work.
The world was always going to adapt to living with it, we just learned what it took to do it far more quickly.

Exactly. Just managing the situation to avoid overwhelming hospitals, and allowing immunity to gradually build up in the population, was always the rational reaction; as was suggested at the start. Of course, folk having an opportunity to make money from the situation had nothing to do with the decision to ignore the science and impose nonsense restrictions. Perish the thought.
I watched a Russell Brand video earlier today, it showed e-mails confirming those pushing for vaccinations were aware it didn't stop people carrying and passing the virus while they were still trying for mandatory jabs for all. He made the point that if one opts to have one for themselves that's one's own decision: trying to generate guilt by falsely claiming one would infect others if one declined, is simply unacceptable.

No it wasn’t. Most governments worldwide took leave of their senses. With the notable exception of Sweden (although there may have been some more). I only know in detail what happened here but I doubt there were too many administrations arguing over whether a Scotch Egg formed a "substantial meal".
