You won't go very fast on nitrous oxide, though you might find it funny.
You need nitromethane.
How am I going to do whipped cream for my knickerbockerglory business.
It is used in drag racing.

"Nitrous oxide enhances performance in two ways; it cools the air/fuel mixture by some 60 degrees, which contributes to increased combustion efficiency, plus — more importantly — the oxygen molecules released from the nitrous (along with added fuel) provide even more power."

err hoppy, it is nitrous oxide me old china:

Either way this is irrelevant since the thread is about the abuse of the gas.
Well you can run your dragster on nitrous oxide if you like, but I'll stick with nitromethane.

Fuel

Since 2015, NHRA regulations limit the composition of the fuel to a maximum of 90% nitromethane; the remainder is largely methanol. However, this mixture is not mandatory, and less nitromethane may be used if desired. While nitromethane has a much lower energy density (11.2 MJ/kg (1.21 Mcalth/lb)) than either gasoline (44 MJ/kg (4.8 Mcalth/lb)) or methanol (22.7 MJ/kg (2.46 Mcalth/lb)), an engine burning nitromethane can produce up to 2.4 times as much power as an engine burning gasoline.

hoppy that's a full time fuel. N2O is used as a temporary boost, added on command.
Drag racing? Do you wear a dress and wear OTT make-up?
Drag isn't my thing
easy to confuse OTT and TTT in the dark, wolf.
Always knew Hopkirk was full of gas.
I shouldn't have eaten those sprouts.

That's no laughing matter.
there a dam blight, usually on country lanes
Wonder why the Government rejected the advice of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD)?
Many things can be harmful, and potentially lead the antisocial behaviour. Is the government intending to ban them all ?
I neither ingest this for recreational purposes, nor have any interest in drag racing, so I'm happy for extra restrictions to be imposed.
According to the report, there is no evidence of any anti social behaviour other than littering.
Sledgehammer to crack a nut - or just trying to be seen to be doing something even if it solves a non existent problem.
limit control on sales but making possession illegal utter madness just ban the lot
Gromit
you need to get-out more hundreds of these silver cannisters litter roads paths in many places dozens dumped in packs

Oh dear, this post will make TTT and Naomi scream

There have in the past been rare cases of nitrous oxide causing spinal cord disease. Crawford 1982 showed it was safe in early pregnancy and had trenchant comments over the cost of skewering untrue possibilities.

You will have learnt in O level chem ( those who turned up) that oxygen is very reactive, so why so much in the atmosphere? And the standard answer is - high activation energy BUT once activated, wham-bow!

Nitrous oxide is an oxidising agent and so can contribute oxygen to a (flame) reaction. The activation energy ( to make that oxygen atom available) is lower and so the flame is hotter, as more energy is available to wham-bow and not needed to activate.

This is too technical innit?

N2O features in the early scenes of Mad Max ( car)
and also in Jason Statham's The Bank Job
Oxy acetylene is hot
but N20 acetylene wham-bow is hotter ! - cuts froo concrete like butter apparently

so where do you get N2O when you go out driving in your best curls and bows ( drag racing that is!)
well buy now, it isnt banned yet

used in whipped cream as it tastes sweet
