Jesus wept - who agrees this is absurd?

And why the hell is the Mail referring to somebody with a penis who rapes women as 'her'?

In his most recent Netflix special, Ricky Gervais had a routine about this very scenario, which was hilarious because it was so absurd. Paraphrasing "He raped me", "you mean she raped you", "but he had a penis", "she had a penis you effing bigot". But clearly it wasn't that absurd after all!

I’ve presented you with logical arguments.
Not really. You've started from assuming that you're entirely correct, and naturally arrived at the conclusion that everything I've said is some degree of wrong. If you want to have a balanced and logical discussion, it may be worth relaxing your initial assumptions -- I don't mean that I'm asking you to assume that *I'm* correct, but at the very least that I *might* be. Until then, there's no discussion to be had, logical or otherwise.

Clare, if you claim the right to be who you are you must have the courtesy to allow everyone else to be who they are.
Are you a Huddersfield Town fan, Clare?
Of course, and I do extend that courtesy. But I'm the only one here who's been told that I'm pretending, living a fantasy, or that I'm adopting (either me explicitly, or by implication since this was addressed to trans people in general) some "ludicrous philosophy".
Still no, ellipsis :P
You’ve been presented with logical argument.
LOL, I thought you might have changed!
I think it was Prudie who guessed where the new (AB) name comes from, ellipsis :) As for Clare, chose it randomly a little over a decade ago and decided that I liked it :)
I still haven’t figured it out.
Thinking too hard perhaps?
More likely it's a reference that is too obscure to be deduced if you didn't already know about it. But it was really just me having a quiet "in-joke" with myself -- where I use the word "joke" in the loosest possible sense.
Naomi. Were Professor P Pedant here, he might refer you to the Greek alphabet. ;o)
all over my head / above my pay grade I think but am wondering if its something to do with clare project and TAU
OK, so to take this a little less personal ... only a little ... Clare, if you would like to answer (and I'm fine if you don't) why do some people want to "cancel" the latest Harry Potter's video game? And what's your take on JK Rowling's position, which seems to be quite nuanced?
-- answer removed --
That's a topic for an entire separate thread, Ellipsis. I'd also need to do some digging, because to be honest I try to distance myself from all of that stuff surrounding Rowling as far as possible.
//The judge made the classic schoolboy error of viewing the object as if he was stood on top of the sun at the start and end of the 6 monthly interval.,//

Did he?:

“…if you observe a body in space and draw a line to it from the earth, and then observe the same object six months later (when the Earth is on the opposite side of the Sun)…”

No mention of my standing on top of the sun. But no matter. What matters more is why your almost manic obsession with my explanation of a parsec continues to infiltrate this thread. Do you see my “schoolboy error” (of which, as demonstrated, you do not even have a proper grasp, however erroneous it might or might not be) as disqualifying me from having a valid opinion on this topic?

//Many of the OPs on here are on the final leg of their journeys. It will take this generation to die out, but die they will.//

Your optimism is unfounded. You will find that as the those on the final leg of their journeys shuffle off this mortal coil, they will be replaced by another lot of fathers and mothers who want safe spaces for their daughters and husbands who want the same for their wives retained, free from biological men (however those men feel about themselves). This is not an issue confined to older people, however much you’d like to think it is.

//I'd rather people try to stick up for someone they feel is getting unfair attention,…//

One of the reasons you may have got unfair attention is that you introduced your personal circumstances into which was, until then, an impersonal debate. Pandora’s Box and all that.

//Certainly whatever NewJudge was spouting wasn't logical -- it was rude and dismissive, dressed up in the vaguest veneer of manners.//

No, it was simply an opinion with which you disagree. Nothing rude about it at all. If you didn’t want commentary on you own personal circumstances you should not have introduced them.

// because to be honest I try to distance myself from all of that stuff surrounding Rowling as far as possible.//

Why? She holds substantially similar views to me. You don’t distance yourself from my opinions.
I won’t engage upon such a blatantly ridiculous topic.
zebu: "As for ttt... Well... Let's just say he is... ermmm... Umm... Parsec challenged ;0)"
here is my explanation at 12:49
"Parsec is a portmanteau of "Parallax second" - a device used to measure the distances to stars, essentially the base of a right angled triangle with one side of 1 AU and a hypotenuse at an angle 1 arc second from the parallel. The distant point of that triangle is 3.26 light years away, one parsec. It's useful because the apparent variant in position of the star against the back ground 6 months apart gives an easy way to calculate distance, for fairly close stars anyway." - tell my what's wrong with that.
The distinctions between you and Rowling are numerous -- but here, the pertinent point is that she gets attention from more than just the people on this site. So it's harder to get away from. On the other hand, I can choose to be here or not.

Also, you've commented on my personal circumstances multiple times already. I'm not altogether sure what exactly you feel you have to add. I get it, you think I'm living a fantasy, you think my philosophy is ludicrous, etc. It's not an original thought, it's not one that hasn't occurred to me multiple times already in the last couple of decades.

Also, I flatter myself, but I'm much more experienced about how transgender people are seen by society than you are. Nah, you're wrong. People are more tolerant these days, not less, and despite the noises in the media, it's still trending that way. There will always be reactionaries, and of course you always have to allow for the morons that will abuse new-found freedoms. But, no. You're behind the times, NJ.

Ah, well. You'll get used to it :)
