There’s already talk of increased taxes across the board which I’d assume will be at local level having cuts made to them

The country is pretty much finished.

Sunak seems to think running off to see his WEF mates at the COP27 is more important.

Tories(although that is not what this lot are) are finished, even I am starting to think Labour couldn't make a worse mess.
ymb @ 12.04 "The Country is pretty much finished.
You can see why more and more Brits are living abroad.
What's COP got to do with this thread I have no idea.
Yes the problem of immigration needs solving here and across Europe but noones found am answer yet and there's still plenty who says it's nasty of us not to just let anyone in
As keir says the systems broken. It would be good of keir to say what Labour would do to repair it but am sure he dont know either
labour would give them all an amnesty, and say it's a fresh start for any new illegals, and give them a right to work, meaning thye can claim all benefits or basically non will work, but live on benefits while working the black economy + bring over there entire families.
The British economy is in a very difficult situation.

The BoE for its part will raise interest rates to stave off both inflation and to strengthen the £ against other currencies.
The repercussions of this are to adversely effect those home owners with mortgages. Payments on company loans also increase. This tends to cause a slow down in the economy and stunts business growth.

However it's a catch 22. If the BoE does not intervene, our currency weakens meaning import prices rise. The corollary which stems from this is to drives UK inflation higher, since the cost of goods in our shopping baskets have risen.

The time to buy British has never been more apt. How long before I am accused of protectionism?
As long as they don’t then complain about overcrowding at refugee centres.
The government has spent too long botching attempts at stopping channel crossings while neglecting the backlog of people already here
Whilst immigration is at unacceptable levels, other countries in Europe have far higher levels. We have to keep a perspective on the overall European situation.
Which countries?
the home office previously instructed against booking hotels and the result is overcrowding to the point of unsanitary and inhumane conditions in processing centres like marston...

on saturday and on tuesday the home office was also found dumping asylum seekers into the streets of London outside victoria station...

hotels seem like the least worst solution in light of the absolute mess the home office has in part created
if only we could stop them coming, surely that's a priority.

best way to do that imo is to allow applications for asylum to be made outside the uk
all these Albanians are here for one reason, economics, a free ride. They don't live in an unsafe country at all and i can't see why we have to put up with them. They should all be returned to Albania.
What's COP got to do with this thread I have no idea.

it is what the PM is doing instead of governing - that's what !
o come on wake up all of you
yeah I thought of that
xc they would come back
personally i think he should stay here and sort out the economy first and foremost.
then ban them from entering the country, we are out of the EU and shouldn't be putting up with this invasion.
i don't think their entry is an act of war
Who said it is an act of war?
calling it an invasion characterises it in that way
