His family are in so much pain and I'm sure the decision wasn't taken lightly by the courts but what are your thoughts?

because waiting is not in the child's best interests
bednobs, if there has been no change in four months, another couple of weeks, wouldn't be much different, but the parents might appreciate that everything has been tried to help their precious son.
His vital organs are already shutting down I'm afraid. They will be of no use to anyone else.
the decisions that have been made, as far as i understand are not for the parents though but for the child himself. What happens if in 4 weeks, things are the same?
if they don't appreciate it now, when will they? It's been four-odd months and they still don't trust the medical judgments?
I would like a reply from New Judge.
They don't, The Winner. I recall pinning a lovely doctor, Eamonn I recollect, to the wall and insisting they continue the treatment they wanted to stop.
Too long to post here...but I battled and battled and I won. The treatment continued and it worked despite being told by doctors that it was unlikely and best to stop now.
We had some great years together after that...what with him not being dead as he would have been had I not been contrary Mary...:-)
New Judge might say "because making deals isn't what judges are there for", I suppose. If you want miracles you should probably approach bishops rather than judges.
Neither judges nor bishops for my miracles, Jno....my gut instinct trumps both.... :-)
gness, so happy for you, and New Judge can answer for him/her self.
// I would like a reply from New Judge.//
hello winner new judge here
I am a judge and not a telepath
and so I cant say what was in the minds of the other judges
good night now
PP, ridiculous answer, as always.......
I was happy too, The Winner, as was MrG of course....but honestly, I did try hard not to smile too much at being right. :-)
gness -- I agree that the parents will be heartbroken and act out of grief, but it's still wrong to lash out at the Courts and the doctors who are doing their job, and to insult them so publicly. You can grieve and still respect others. Archie died months ago. They've wasted so much time being angry at everyone that they could have spent honouring his memory.

Maybe the media reporting is at fault for not challenging it enough?
ScienceNoob, have you ever been in this same situation? If not, you've no idea.
When you are grieving, Sciencenoob it's hard to think of others. When you think, rightly or wrongly, that doctors could be wrong you don't give one hoot about their feelings. You fight for what you believe. I did that and if we all stop doing that it's wrong.
Let's leave it at that for tonight.
Apparently several TicTok kids have died by stupidity restricting blood to the brain. A kind of lunatic challenge.
//New Judge, then why didn't the judge make a deal and say what about waiting another Four weeks then? expecting nature to take its course?//

// I would like a reply from New Judge..//

Sorry, I’d gone to bed.

No idea. As usual with all matters reported from the courts, we get one or two lines to describe the result of a hearing which, in this case, probably took some hours. The judges would have their reasons.

The parents obviously have my deepest sympathy and I can’t imagine what they’re going through. However, it seems quite clear their son will not recover. As mentioned, I did not like it one bit when they spoke of the state “murdering” their child. That did not cover them in glory, but allowances must be made for the predicament they are in.
i see they are now petitioning for him to go to a hospice, as a hospital is full of noise and fuss and they want him to die quietly at peace
1) that can happen in a hospital
2) having been present when someone died on the side of a motorway in the back of an ambulance while being transferred to a hospice, with the relatives following on in a car i wonder if the parents have considered what impact that has?
