John's a wet, and his government was mired to their neck in sleaze. Hectoring from the sidelines isn't going to gain anything productive, but that's the sort of thing old and embittered ex-politicians do- listen to Heseltine whenever he's wheeled out for comment. Nothing progressive, nothing positive to say, just sad old men. And yes, excellent performance by Boris and team in Westminster today. Contrast that with the childish SNP's or lacklustre Labour and Keir's tortuous pre-arranged, badly timed and unfunny jokes. As Boris rightly said, any of the candidates for PM would wipe the floor with SKS.

Major led an awful government and I find it obnoxious that he parades around as some kind of elder statesman. Heseltine is similar. He's not had a sniff of government since 1997 and yet he is continually seconded by the Beeb as if he was some kind of oracle. Yesterday's men, who achieved very little.

Regardless of the Major administration and what they did or didn’t do I don’t remember them being anywhere near as corrupt, inept nor changing parliamentary and ministerial rules to suit their needs.

Tbf he retired in 2001 anyway and given the cabinet positions he’s held and under the Prime Ministers he did he’s obviously an ‘elder statesman’ whos opinion would be valued by the media, no doubt.
His own assessment of Johnson was just as damning.
Not many senior Tories or otherwise(bar the sycophants) who’ve been praising him has there?

Are you on this planet? The whole monologue was an honest appraisal and scathing attack on Johnson and his whole cabinet who stood back and let him do what he did with perceived impunity.
If you see it any different you’re more unhinged over Johnson than I’d ever realised!
