i find that story extremely puzzling. How could he have tugged someone round by a skipping rope for 2 days IN PRISON?
So will i.

Nobs he was threatening him with a broken bottle and a home made spear, I assume the authorities didn't just pile in because of that.
why will you answer later TTT?
Question Author
just thought I'd wait for other opinions.
because it will change what you think?
Does that ever happen (to anyone, not just you!)
He would have been released long ago if he'd followed a basic rule in prison, Keep your head down and do your time.
He doesn't seem to be able to do that. Until he does how can he be released?
Yes

bednobs: "because it will change what you think? " - no because I'm in two minds, I was hoping for some good points to make me think about it differently. At the same time I didn't want to taint the discussion by people arguing rather than answering.
Would Rwanda take him?
Surely worth asking.

95 press ups in 30 seconds? Arithmetic's not his strong suit.
gotcha TTT.
I was just reading the wiki page about him as i don't think i ever really knew much about him before (if anything!)
i certainly would not want him living next door to me and my 10 year old. What a scummy man. prison seems the best place for him.
Mr Bronson's long incarceration has been due entirely to incremental sentencing as a result of his persistent violent behaviour.

It would appear that this violence has now ceased to be an issue, and on the basis that his violence is caused as a direct result of his inability to accept prison rules, it may be that liberation will remove said violent tendencies.

I would suggest that placement in an open prison and further assessment would give the authorities more of a picture of his suitability for release.
There will probably be quite a few who say he should be released. But how many of those would want him as their next-door neighbour?
Those stats about violence in 70 year olds (made by his brief) have probably been concocted using data from 'normal' human beings.
I wouldn't like him next door to me ! He's an out and out nutter. I remember a TV programme about that poor art teacher, he was allowed to keep him prisoner like that because the prison guards were to scared to intervene !
He probably should be released but after such a long imprisonment he will be institutionalised and may not be well able to cope with life on the outside.
Having said that he would probably make money from selling his story (over again) which might ease the way forward.

OK, I think I'll go with my initial thoughts on this. All he had to do was obey the rules and he'd have been out decades ago. He has demonstrated time and again that he has not been rehabilitated. I still think he's a danger to the public. All the bleating, "I'm no murderer, rapist etc......", does not wash. He wants special treatment without offering anything in return. Maybe try him in an open prison for 6 months, the slightest transgression, back he goes. On the whole I don't think he is safe to release.
No, just because I would never want him living next to me. Is that a good enough reason to keep him locked up?
My son wrote to him a few years back, asking for a piece of his 'art'
for a charity event,
He replied with a very cordial letter and a piece of 'art' which raised a few hundred quid for a childrens charity.

Let the man have a few years peace fgs.

BTW - I don't think he is called Bronson now.
