Those trade deals which were all going to be sewn up by the time we Got Brexit Done nearly eighteen months ago, . . . . . well, er, um, we're getting round to it soon.

In Portsmouth today Boris said,"We are certainly looking at doing free trade deals around the world.". Just looking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ministers are keen to strike as many trade deals as possible following Brexit , and Ms Truss wants one in place with Australia by the time the UK hosts the G7 summit - of leading economies - in June.

We've certainly got the clown, and he's running a right circus.

Emmie I wish you would stop following me around this site nit-picking. Its childish.
The ones i have listed have come to fruition. The Ozzie one is still being worked on, but suspect that will be a boost.
i wasn't referring to you, if you see my response was to Gulliver.
APG she was talking to Gulliver.
we crossed posts.
he is the one who is nit picking.
If it was to Gulliver it should have been addressed to him then.
i did afterwards, your post just happened to pop up afterwards
I would refer to Gulliver as a Catalyst rather than a nit picker.. :-)
call him what you like,
as an aside APG i never ever follow anyone around on this site, why the hell would i.
09.38 read 08.49 It's obvious who's side you are on.
gulliver, if you have any thing to add thats useful, do let us know, this is about trade deals those that are done and those that likely will go ahead
gulliver, i don't follow anyone around, nor indeed take sides.
Perhaps I am wrong but I do not think the UK is in a strong bargaining position... looking at the value of the pound on google it has never recovered the loss it suffered in 2016... and the high probability of Scotland seceding in the next decade does not make us look attractive. everyone knows we are trying to make up lost trade with neighbours... which will always be cheaper than trading with countries on the other side of the world...

And no before Tora starts I am not "anti-british" or against the UK I would like this country to do well... I just honestly don't think we have put ourselves in a very good position and hope I am wrong...
sunk: "Perhaps I am wrong but I do not think the UK is in a strong bargaining position... looking at the value of the pound on google it has never recovered the loss it suffered in 2016... and the high probability of Scotland seceding in the next decade does not make us look attractive. everyone knows we are trying to make up lost trade with neighbours... which will always be cheaper than trading with countries on the other side of the world..." - currency down helps some up helps others, down is good for exports. Scotland are 8% of the UK, largely irrelevant and actually we'd be a lot more attractive if they left because we could use the money we use to support them for other things. Once the EUSSR gets over its hissy fit that someone left their club they'll realise it's in their interests to trade with their best customer. Nothing to see here.
^^^ sorry that was untitled but same brand of anti British tripe, so you can see why I confused the 2.
The anti-British refuse to kiss the UK's feet so the expected rush from all corners of the world never materialised. The UK may have to go out asking for deals.
so the deals already made don't count, as i said trade is a two way street
"Scotland are 8% of the UK, largely irrelevant"

not from a trade point of view... they have a large whiskey export industry and oil too. Imagine you strike a deal with the UK and then your new market shrinks by 8%, the pound drops still further, and you lose access to two valuable commodities...

It is hypocritical in the extreme that you call me anti-British in the same post that you insist Scotland - part of Britain - is irrelevant... it is quite obvious that by "anti british" you just mean people you disagree with...
