The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has been approved for use in the UK, and should start being used early in the New Year. The vaccine is easier to distribute and administer than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The UK has bought enough doses for 50 million people.

As I had an anaphylactic shock 13 years ago, I was told I couldn't have the vaccine when it first came out. Can I now have the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine now?
as ever Sqad, the man at the ministry will say
and we wont get a voice
viz there is variation but no choice

the -80'C requirement may turn out to be ..... a killer

someone ( mrs mopp's you know, uncle or something) has already near me refused the vaccine altho his lady has
and my comment was "God what a fool"
Barsel,if you were advised against the Pfizer vaccine, the advice will bethe same for the Astrazeneca vaccine.
Barsel
check with the vaccinators when the time comes

we have had this haven't we? I said I lied about my little allergies. I am aware the " dont have it just to be sure" protects the vaccinators from litigation more than it prevents your DDDDYYYYYYYIIIIINNNGG!
Sqad it is a big deal for Barsel
B should check with the vaccinators to whom she will give the info

we are back at the ampicillin allergy stable .... that horse has... run
Barsei

I agree with PP and the characteristics of your "anaphylactic " reaction may well be re-evaluated.
PP we have cross posted.
gness, that may mean you don't have to sit around for 20 minutes to see if you go into shock, which ought to mean quicker throughput of inoculees and less crowded waiting rooms.
Matt Hancock just announced that the Oxford vaccine will be rolled out next Monday.
It's difficult to read the Indie article correctly (given the irritating adverts which keep moving the text around) - but I read it as saying that anyone can now have the Pfizer or Astra vaccine, with the 15 minute 'watch' period now only needed for anyone with a history of allergic reactions.
With 2.3 million of the Pfizer jabs given, and no further reported adverse reactions, they must be ready to move to a 'jab and go' method for anyone without pre-existing allergies - it just needs an army of clerks to feed the jabees through to the jabbers - rather than the existing "12 minutes per jab" regime.
Anyone can have a reaction to any jab. You have to sit with babies in the clinic for 10 mins after they have jabs now.
Barrel, with every respect to every poster here, you still should check with GP. And even then, I would hang around after for 15 mins or so before you go home. Even unofficially xx
He did Danny, great news. Let’s hope the politicians don’t do a balls up with the administration of it .
Tbf, that doesn't hold them up, dave. They continue jabbing... they just get people to hang around a little after x
Barsel... not barrel. Sorry! X
My wife was supposed to have had the vaccination at her surgery yesterday but was told she couldn't have it because she has a food allergy.

She was told that if the Oxford vaccine is approved she would have that in about 3 weeks.
Thanks to those of you for your advice. My GP said her husband has the same allergy to penicillin so he couldn't have it originally so I am sure she will be able to tell me what I should do, the problem is, getting hold of her to ask! Interesting article Gness. x
Pixie lol.x
Barsel, does your surgery have econsult online?
