Where do you live?

It is in UK, not in a lockdown area.
Then you're only subject to the "Rule of Six" - that is no more than six people together in one house.
Prime example of how very confusing it all is. I am in a non-lockdown area and thought I could go into anyone's house I want to as long as there's no more than 6 present at the same time.
You can Prudie, social distancing must be maintained though.
Its all cobblers and non-sensical.
Make up your own rules, the government do!
I think he can as long as there are no more than 6 people. It's in pubs and restaurants where people from more than 2 households can't meet. My friend's Mum lived in Germany in the 1930s. I bet she feels right at home in the UK.

Yes they can (provided it is not in an area subject to additional restrictions). The "Rule of six" apples everywhere - indoors and outdoors, private property or public places.
A think the poster wanted advice not another complain about goverment, Nailit.
It is as you say Prudy up to 6. But am assuming that when they say UK that they mean England. Allso both of yous need to be from area's that dont have extra restriction's. 2 meeting can be at home or garden or in a pub but u should not hug or stand within spitting distance and theres allways a risk in touching door hangles, but its small off course but still safer not to go. Outside is allways safer but keep the 2 meters.

Just indulge me for a minute, bobbin (I won't hijack the thread any further but your remark has intrigued me). How highly do you rate the risk of touching door handles? Do you you out at all?
I spend my days handling literally thousands of items a day, Those thousands of items are spread across hundreds of trays. Those trays are handled by dozens of volunteers, those volunteers handle each item that has been handled by dozens of others before them.
But put a face nappy on and your ok.
What's this rule of six apples about?
Simple judge.
Heres what the world health orgnization says on it
https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-considerations-for-the-cleaning-and-disinfection-of-environmental-surfaces-in-the-context-of-covid-19-in-non-health-care-settings
At work all surface's that are touched alot get dinfected regular especialy door hangles and stair rails.
You may of noticed all supermarkets disinfect trollies and baskets. theres a good reason.
Those shielding were adviced to clean door knob's and surfaces if workmen had to work in the home/
I thought you must of read about corona virus risks but I can see your very cinical and maybe your out of touch with hygiene practises if your not working or shopping?
Yes a do go out but take care. At work its compulsery to follow H&S rules.
it keeps six doctors away, TCL.
Thanks for that, bobbin. Yes I am aware of the WHO guidance and I know what many organisations are doing. What I'm really keen to learn is how much of a risk do you believe that touching door handles poses to you personally? I rate the risk as extremely low. I don't touch my face at all when I'm out - one thing I have been particularly mindful of ever since this started; I don't wear a face covering so the main reason everybody else touches their face when out is absent for me. So whatever gets on to my hands (and the risk of the virus getting there is incredibly low) goes nowhere near my nose, mouth or eyes. So I've assessed the risk that door handles pose to me and consider it to be vanishingly low. How about you?
