It's all so depressing, isn't it?
What's most depressing is the cave in to give students their demanded, fantasy, inflation busting, grade instead of calculating a fair guess.
It’s reckoned Williamson is unsackable, believe it or not.
He’s a pretty nasty piece of work and the worry is if he gets the push he’ll start causing trouble.
For the same reason he’s hardly likely to resign.
He will probably go in the next reshuffle
How can you still think the procedure Ofqual used was a "fair guess"?

I guess that comes with having a massive majority.
But it shows very poor leadership in Boris.
Big big errors should be punished, but Johnson lets them go. The public are going to notice, and not like it.
Yes he’s got a cabinet of incompetent sycophants.
Johnson rewards loyalty, not ability. A fatal weakness.
No one said it was. The algorithm should have also taken the teachers' guess as a weighted input to ensure differentials between individuals remained, but the overall mark was still as one would reasonably expect overall, i.e. same as every previous year. Shouldn't have been difficult to get it right from the start, nor bug fix & rerun.
The thing is, though -- that's what the algorithm did. It's just that it achieved it by lowering grades in a way that seemed arbitrary and, in effect, tended to punish students for going to the wrong schools, or taking the wrong subjects.
Or, I should add, just generally failing to appreciate that it's impossible to match results nationally without hurting students locally. We can all agree, I think, that this year's cohort is not significantly "better" at exams they didn't sit than last year's. But which students' marks should be lowered? There's simply no answer to that. The only correct thing to do is either to trust the teachers -- who, it can be safely assumed, weren't deliberately conspiring to inflate the grades and were trying their best to judge students by absolute and relative standards -- or to abandon attempts to grade altogether until a safe way and time was found to set the exams.

Is it The Con Club or The Crony Club ?.

Thatcher was brutal with her under achieving, incompetent Ministers.
Mess up and she sacked them.

Boris has been tight lipped about Jenrick’s and Williamson‘s failings.

He has craved power all his life, but now he has got it, he is too cowardly to use it.
We just need Doris to do the decent thing now.
Ich 19.59 He knows where the Bodies are Buried, then.
hang on it's gullidlycake reunion! PMSL!
I see he's been out on another jolly today, dressed like bob the builder.
T/C 20.36 , I hope you are not thinking of the...... "Ditch ".
“ He has craved power all his life, but now he has got it, he is too cowardly to use it.”

I’d say that’s not quite right. Power for Boris Johnson - and you’re right he is a power freak - is not about using it to get rid of people you think might have done the wrong thing. It’s about using it strengthen your own position. And as I indicated earlier it seems he’s calculated that booting out Williamson (who should be booted so hard his backside does not touch the ground) will harm him.
So Williamson stays.
20.38 ,Oh dear looks like TGT is having one of his Imbie moments again. LMAO.
Anyone know if super nanny managed to block the channel off yet, or may be that's been put on the back burner now the weather turned rough.
Rather than being as pleased as punch that my 16 years old daughter’s two years of hard work resulted in her by and large getting the 8s and 9s she was predicated to get (other than a 6 in art - but art isn’t a proper subject), I should be telling her grades are worthless because they’ve been inflated.
