I don't believe they'll win a single seat in Scotland, certainly.
TTT - did you not notice that this article is from last July? A lot has happened since then. Do try harder to keep up.

yes it talks about the coronation of Johnson, that was this year.

You're missing something, TTT - and so I am. I can't see an improvement since last July .... perhaps diddly will enlighten us.
At the moment polling is good for Johnson -- but it's also possibly not that bad for Corbyn, and Labour's vote share has gone up recently. There's still almost a month of campaigning left, so who knows what will happen in that time? At this stage in 2017 it looked pretty certain that the Tories were on course for a 100+ majority and we all know how that went.

No point in telling us what the polls are indicating now then.
Not at all interested in the polls. I can draw my own conclusions of Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott and his multipal car crash at the present.
The Opinion piece is from July when Boris was electioneering to become the next Tory leader.
He promised only Boris could deliver Brexit.
Then he didn’t, just like the rest of them.
Since then he had a disastrous start to him Premiership, being humiliated by his own MPs.
And the first week of the General Election campaign has bee poor from the Tories and admittedly no better from Labour).
In short, a lot has changed in the 5 months since this Guardian article was written, and does not apply now.
Well, polling still can tell you something, eh?

I'm not sure we should expect a 2017 result but still there's a lot that can happen in the next month -- and anyway even if the Tories do gain a lot of votes it might end up being more about increased majorities in the seats they already had than in the seats they need to win.
I repat my prediction on other threads; Labourto face humiliation and the Tories to have a majority of 100+. Labour will only have themselves to blame.
I'm getting bored with it already. The parties are all getting their manifestos ready, and making promises they're unlikely to keep, but its all irrelevant. This election will be won and lost on Brexit and nothing more. That saddens me no end.

Yes. Not to place my faith in polls.

I wouldn't hazard a guess at the outcome of this election but I think Labour is set to lose a lot of support. This is the first time ever I've known life-long Labour voters planning to put their cross elsewhere.

gromit: "In short, a lot has changed in the 5 months since this Guardian article was written, and does not apply now." - July 31st, to now 3.5 months, there you go again gromit.
I think the only party about to get wiped out is The Independent party for change. And that odious woman Soudry will be consigned to the talk show circuit.

Both Labour and Conservatives have too many core voters to be blown for too long. Either party or other will lose lots of seats but rally back at the next couple of elections.

Lib beams only have more MPs at the moment because they got stolen from other parties. How they will do this time is anyone’s guess.

I saw a headline this morning that said The Brexit Party wouldn’t get a single seat. And that may be true but they will get a hell of a lot more votes than others but we’ve seen them get 4 or 5 million votes and no MPs before.
Pretty sure it was UKIP that got 3.9 million votes but exactly 1 MP in 2015. Which is still a shocking indictment of the system.

Polling is a useful indicator of the mood of the country, as long as results from multiple polls are taken together.
Far too early to tell.

Difficult to understand how labour is polling so high given anyone with half a brain cell should be able to see some of their promises are physically impossible let alone financially.

Still red rose on a donkey ....
And Tory promises of the past.......do I really need to spell out all the ones that didn't happen?
Yeah, go on. And we’ll match ‘em with Labour ones.
I dont think the Tories, or lib dems come to that, have every made promises that cannot be physically possible. Nor so many.
// I dont think the ... lib dems ... have every made promises that cannot be physically possible. //

I'm glad you think so ymb :P
