We need to get some self-driving cars for them.
was he breathalysed?
If you're asking was he drunk, if he had been, would he not have been charged accordingly?
Maybe he just fell asleep.
Possibly listening to a Nicola Sturgeon Podcast.
Lol that’s just a few years from police station
Years? Yards
//If you're asking was he drunk, if he had been, would he not have been charged accordingly?//
people do pass breathalysers, it was just idle curiosity

Damned cyclists, always causing problems.
He may have been preoccupied with thoughts of how much it cost to have the Gaelic stickers put on all the Police Scotland vehicles even though the language is only used by about 27 souls.

Alba gu brath as the First Miniature would say if she could speak it.
Probably be back on the beat - do cops remember how to walk?
//A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We are aware of the outcome of the case and a report will be made to the deputy chief constable for people and professionalism, Fiona Taylor, for consideration of misconduct proceedings."//

Why misconduct proceedings ?
Causing damage to a police vehicle without any excuse.
But surely it was an 'accident ' - he didn't intentionally drive into the lampost
As Steg said the crash site would have been visible from the front desk of the station. I dont think that he will ever be allowed to forget this accident.

He must be a bit of a Chancer.

He had plenty of room to pass the cyclist.
//Why misconduct proceedings ?//

Probably the Chief Constable of Police Scotland is a member of AB and does not appreciate his police drivers being the object of ridicule.A bit harsh imo. He has been weighed off in Sheriff's court and probably suspended from police driving or at least waiting a re-test. He damaged street furniture and the car. Unless he has mental problems I doubt he deliberately rammed the ATS post whereby causing himself injury. He is not the first POLACC and won't be the last.

a
He admitted driving carelessly, that's more than many would do.
If you drive into the car in front of you - you have plenty of room to stop .
But you still drove into it - but is just that - an accident
//If you drive into the car in front of you - you have plenty of room to stop .//
That would be the offence of driving without due care and attention.
