Why should the colour of the mayor matter?
Well Boris did...and did a better job than the present one.
Why not. School and colour should not matter. It's whether they can do the job and they also need personality and humour and be able to relate to all and sundry, which Boris did.
I don't think he did a bad job when Minister of Prisons. I don't like his politics but he got the job done and improved conditions. He said he would resign if he failed. Obviously a man of resolve.
I am sure he has better manners and respect for this country and our Sovereign than Khan which is a start.
We don't need token ethnics who couldn't run a woodpeckers picnic in Sherwood Forest. Crikey who next as a mayoral candidate Dianne Abbot? That would tick enough boxes for the 'Inclusive' brigade.
I'm fairly sure neither schooling nor skin colour prevents someone messing up everything as mayor.
Did you choose the school that you attended?
MW //Did you choose the school that you attended?//
Yes
^^^^ Yes ,I chose mine
Which party would he represent, as he's resigned from the Tories.
Cannot see why any would question colour or education, it's whether he is able to do the job IMO.
He'll be standing as an independent.
if he can do the job i don't see why not. He seems in earnest and anything
to get rid of the odious present incumbent, who hasn't made
much of the job as it stands.
I didn’t choose the school that I attended and neither did my wife or children, or grandchildren. I’m amazed to hear that apparently children can nowadays.
My son was given a choice by us and fortunately chose the one we favoured, which wasn't the local school.
A lot of children are mature enough at secondary age to be given a chance to choose. We visited the schools we thought suitable and the local school with our child. Not always a possible option though.
I chose the Senior school that I wanted to attend in 1948. Had the choice of three.
//I chose the Senior school that I wanted to attend in 1948. Had the choice of three//

So did I, the choice of Borstals....
I think Rory Stewart might not have had quite as much choice...
Mr Webb is a long standing BBC journalist so his partiality on anything is doubtful.
We chose the schools for our kids. 10 year olds don’t have the maturity to decide these things for themselves.

I agree with everything retrocop said.
