/// Edgbaston is traditionally a stronghold of India and Paksitan supporters at international tournaments, so much so that Morgan anticipates an atmosphere more like an away game. ///

Seems like these India and Pakistan fans don't consider themselves English.

It depends on whether I like Cricket if I wish to comment about who supports who?

I don't think so - it's a free choice.

To get back to the cricket theme, it seems a shame that although England are playing on an English pitch, they feel that they are playing on foreign fields.

That says alot about how in some of own English towns and cities, the English are in now the minority.
Thanks Margo but I dont subscribe to any PTV channels, Ill have to put up will Agnews commentary then.
Doesn't say anything at all. People from the Indian subcontinent love their cricket, and go along to see a match featuring their team. Why you need to read anything else into it is perverse in the extreme.
Lynne of course it is. xx
will they get to 350 runs?
Jim// Why you need to read anything else into it //
Are you the only person on AB who doesn't know why?
Tony - I still miss dear old Jonners. Totally agree with you Jim
Ah! for the days of John Arlott commentating on the seagulls etc.
I have my own opinions as to why but I thought I'd let AOG explain himself all the same.
Good final over by Bumrah probably keeps the target down to 340-ish.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, 3.9% of folk in the West Midlands Region are Indian. Perhaps there are more Indian fans because cricket means more to them than to English and Welsh fans?
Ill get some jobs done and await England's bowlers. Ben Stokes has played a blinder.
Stokes has been more or less the only reason England even got close in their last two games. Also what a difference it makes to have Roy back in the side over Vince, who just hasn't delivered on his promise.

I got as far as reading the OP, not the link, just the OP.
Don't need to read anything else as it's just the same old, same old.

That may apply to those who have paid to come to England so as to support their team, but the other are not from the Indian Sub-Continent, they are from England.

If you don't believe me try asking one of them "where do you come from"? And see what kind of answer they will give you.
When I was an English Student living in Edinburgh I supported England at Football.

It's not difficult. Stop embarrassing yourself by making an issue where there literally isn't one.
Aside Must have been 40 plus years ago when I was working in Swansea as a lad. Swansea Vs QPR when QPR scored I was they only one chearing, guys from work that took me, almost smothered me to prevent any violence. They just said hes only a lad from England. lol
We were in the Swansea end.
aog you will always support your natural heritage.
AOG - you are old enough - as you never tire of telling us - to know that any sports fan abroad instantly becomes an OTT patriot when the attend a game. That applies to Brits in Australia when the Ashes are on, and again, you know that full well.

Peope who are either natives, or have roots in the Indian sub-continent are seriously passionate about cricket, and will travel from far and wide to watch their team, as opposed to a lot of Brit fans who live down the road from the ground, and will still watch it on TV.

This is the reason why there will be serious numbers of Indian / Pakistan supporters at the game, be they native, or British born.

The game will be played to win, in the traditional sportsmanship that cricket enjoys.

Now why can't you simply accept that as a fact, and appreciate it, instead of your usual dark mutterings about making an issue of ethnicity over it.

Of course, that would render your post redundant, and on reflection, that might not be such a bad thing.
