So a faulty escalator made a bit of a bang noise and caused a mass stampede took over Disney land pairs, leaving some with 'minor injuries' due to crowd movement.

Can't even have some background industrial noise without people thinking there is a terrorist attack.

So, it seems the terrorists have won. Mass fear is spreading. Brilliant.

Well, of course terrorist attacks never happen in crowed places. Daft idea.
Read what I wrote Spath!
I said a couple of people heard a bang!
Seriously not worth the effort!

you're right RR.. not worth the effort, so why come onto my posts?

I feel you read my posts and answers with a rather negative prejudice. You can't just take them for how they are. Not everything is a competition. This is my though, that's just what it is, you don't need to argue against it and get so irate.
Of course they ran - I suspect the majority of the people there had kids with them, their instinct would be to get their kids to safety.
Question Author
in doing so though, they made an unsafe environment where a fair few people were injured due to crowd movement. The safest situation, would have been none at all. The people in the station must have knew it was an escalator and not a bomb. Especially those on or very close to the escalator.

Something went bang at a theme park and people ran. No big deal.
By my own admission I'm a scaredy cat. If I heard a bang I'd run.

You don't even see what I'm like on a flight!!
Question Author
I think a theme park (disney land) is a least likely place for a terrorist attack. I also think a theme park is one of the most notorious locations for random metallic noises such as an escalator, or a ride.

Law of attraction. If terrorism wasn't such a big topic and issue at the moment according to the media, no one would have put one and an imaginary number together.
Question Author
ah well people were injured for no reason, peoples holidays ruined and mass hysteria but i mean..

Just to put my oar in there, I would not have ran anywhere. Who knows what you're ruining into? I know where i am no one is shooting or blowing things up, so why risk running into that? Stay put unless there is a obviously threat, which none was. No visible threat at all.

In a fire do people run? If so Jhee... How to harm those around you book 101.
In some respects I agree with where you are coming from I think Spat. Ignoring this particular incident IMHO the media spend far too much time on terrorist incidents, Sky and the like on 24 hour continually coverage just repeat the same over and over. This just gives the terrorist the oxygen of publicity and spreads the fear - exactly what terrorism is about.

The media should report the incident briefly and move on, and never show the terrorist more than for a few seconds under the title 'murderer'.
You don't have children do you?
That was to Spath.

"The media should report the incident briefly and move on, and never show the terrorist more than for a few seconds under the title 'murderer'. "

Absolutely, because they then get gratification. It then helps influence other nutters to go out and do the same thing, maybe giving them some airtime.

If the media reports on coin collecting, you'll see a 3% surge in coin collecting. So when the media reports on terrorism, expect to see a surge.

I don't, no Ummmm. However, I'm not sure how that affects my reactions in this situation. I'd rather not scare the life out of my kids, putting them in danger in a human stampede, for absolutely no reason.
It's not just terrorism though. The amount of car crashes and plane crashes that are reported....makes people scared of flying/driving.

Spath - I think instinct kicks in. You react to keep your child safe.
Spath, when you have kids you will find out.

If everyone is legging it you grab your kids and get out. As fast as possible. Simple human instinct, you dont wait to think.

And yes Umm, I agree with you on planes etc. Too much time is spent analysing every small detail - that they dont know about which does spread fear.
Yes...My local newspaper posts about every friggin car crash. It's almost daily.
Here is an analogy: Just think how different things would be if the media had reported merely on the initial results of the Brexit referendum and refrained from any more reporting or commenting upon it.
Then people would accept it.
