I'll stick to haddock and chips if that's ok. That maggoty thing is truly disgusting.

My grandma used to do boiled sheep's head though. I didn't like the wool getting stuck in my teeth and the eyes were a bit off-putting.!
Had the bull's penis in Beijing and it was seriously delicious - served with a mushroom sauce - I went back in to the platter for more.

In China, bull, tiger, deer and bear's are considered as Chinese Viagra, the female equivalent being deep-fried scorpions.

Told the ex about it and her comment was 'I suppose that it's one of those dishes that grow on you.'

Some things there don't seem too bad to me. (I'm not that keen on caviar but I do love root beer!)

However I think that I'll pass on most of it though (especially the jumping maggots!)
Sheeps head no issue and no different to a good tete de veau in France/Belgium/Luxembourg - plenty of eyeballs in the Middle East and in China, it was fish eyes and lips....
Mine is a cheese sandwich sans maggots.
Question Author
Hmmm.

"Had the bull's penis in Beijing"
and
"bull, tiger, deer and bear's are considered as Chinese Viagra"
and
"Told the ex about it"

I can't help wondering what position you were in at the time or, possibly, whether you'd got a dish of deep-fried scorpions ready to serve to her ;-)

>>> Mine is a cheese sandwich sans maggots

If it's a decent blue cheese, David, I suspect that viewing it through a microscope could be just as off-putting as seeing all those maggots!
The maggots are protein, I suppose.
Question Author
Well if it's protein that you're seeking, Tilly2, here are a few suggestions for you ;-)

Hugely expensive but its slimy, like a bowl of snot.....birds nest soup - yuk

No way, Chris...my tummy still churns from when my daughter went to Dawson City and drank a Sourtoe Cocktail...... :-(
I'm pretty cautious when it comes to food, especially meat. I know that many people eat lamb, rabbit, cats, dogs, ducks and horses but I would not be able to.

Young Frankie likes his spiders to be very fresh and very alive.
Question Author
I think I'll pass on that one, Gness!

My cats have decided that spiders are too much like hard work, Susan. They insist on being served by me personally ;-)
Chris, I was feeling a bit peckish. But then I clicked on the links :-(
Question Author
If you look hard enough, Tony, I'm sure that there'd be something you'd like in those links. (Haggis? Root beer? I love them both!)
Root beer and irn very are vile. Haggis is okay in small amounts
Question Author
I get through loads of haggis. I split them into three and then freeze them. They're then easy to microwave.
I know what's in haggis but what is in root beer ?.
Question Author
Root beer is traditionally made from sassafras root but these days most of the stuff you can buy is made from artificial flavourings:
