//Two members of a terror cell can face US justice after the UK dropped its requirement for assurances they would not be executed if found guilty, according to a report….. A letter sent by home secretary Sajid Javid to US attorney general Jeff Sessions says the UK would demand no "assurances" that the pair will not be executed, contrary to previous policy…..The home secretary's letter reveals his fears that British laws may not be enough for a successful prosecution and that US terrorism laws will be more effective.//

Getting tough on terrorists is good news – but an acknowledgement that British laws may not be enough for a successful prosecution says a lot. Time for a change in the law then?

No, I hadn't read the thread, Minky. Neither would you if you'd had the morning I've had! I would go out of my way anyway to avoid your posts and I don't particularly want to talk to you, but you already know that.

Let this be the first and last conversation we have on here.

// I'm torn, is it irony or a complete misunderstanding of the world^^//

push any of the carts and the wheel falls off:
Islamic law doesnt punish killing christians - altho there are verses in favour of the ahl-el-kitab ( chillun of the book) there are others about liquidating kufr ( us again )

I guarantee the word terrorism doesnt occur in the Koran (along with AK 49, television, digital telephone exchange and so on)
It would be confusing because, who demands that they receive no assurances anyway ? If we get assurances then the deal's off and you can't have them.
Naomi- here is waht Minkyme means by "facepalm"

I wasnt quite sure why Britain was involved
but they are British citizens...
and been convicted in another Court - Turkey I think

I think Javid is saying we'll help oh and we wont require no death penalty whilst we help

[If British permission was reqd before extradition of a British subject then there would be no human rights extradition cases in the high court in London]
And I thought they wanted folk to speak to the hand :-)

I can't decide whether that facepalm thing is crying, laughing, worried, got a headache, or what...

Words say it better....
In this case the facepalm represents a rather rude ignoramus.
If I may, 'facepalm' was a thing with the yoof until older folk adopted it, making it no longer kewel.

It's still used by some as shorthand for exasperation when things aren't quite as they'd like them.

Btw when making the action it's essential to say 'facepalm' to achieve full dork.
Lady CG - you have only been back a day but already you seem to be announcing your utter contempt for certain posters (Minkyme today, yesterday anneasquith) too often perhaps. It'd be a shame for you to become inactive at the Ed's hands so quickly
Why should we spend taxpayers money trying them for war crimes and then keeping them in prison for years, turn these savages over to the Americans for them to deal with them in their own way.
FF, I've never got on with those two posters and I'm not going to start being disingenuous now. I never started feuds with them in the first place, so please try not to be so judgemental.

I was only absent a week or so and hopefully my original account will be reinstated so I don't really see your point.
Even in Chatterbank I think it's not considered acceptable to describe someone on here as an ignoramus. But if you want to keep posting like this that's fine by me- I was only trying to give a tip but i can see it's not welcome
FF, I've been around now for nearly 10 years so I kinda know how it works but thanks anyway, you're awfully kind.

Apologies, Naomi.
fiction-factory

Why should Lady CG be singled out especially? There are many on here who regularly announce their utter contempt, not only against me but others also, yet they are still here.
"Now we will get every other primitive country saying, you sent those to America, we demand that you are consistent and send our criminals back to us to be killed too"

Sounds good to me. Now let's get a list going and ask those 'primitive' (I would prefer enlightened) countries if they would like to oblige.
