It looks like the cyclist could have been in the cars blind spot.

/// Third, there is no excuse for a driver to simply run over a cyclist who is in their way. ///

The driver did not run over the cyclist, in fact he never even touched him.

*** The Volkswagen almost hits the cyclist while trying to pull out into traffic which appears to start the confrontation. ***

Perhaps he was a little annoyed with the driver for slowing him down on the way to yet another stabbing.
The driver appeared to almost hit the cyclist who had to move out the road to avoid him.

The driver also appeared to hit something when he tried to squeeze between the van and the car from which the video was filmed.

Having said that, there's no justification for having that knife or attacking the car with it.
as CD says - hitting someone with a car is every bit as lethal as hitting them with a knife. Far more drivers kill cyclists than the other way round (I imagine the latter figure is zero). On this occasion it appears neither was hurt, but a careless driver is almost certainly more dandgerous to the general public than a man with a knife.

jno

I don't believe in what I have just read, no wonder knife crime is on the increase, with little being done about it.
jno: "perhaps that will teach drivers to be more careful. " - good to see savage psycho's with 14 inch blades have a fan! nice!
what would you rather have coming at you, TTT, a man with a knife or an autonomous car?
stop trying to dig yourself out jno, you are backing cyclists attacking motorists with knives, end of.

You're correct - the driver did not run the cyclist over.

However, he/she pulled out, and went straight into the cyclist without checking what was coming. The driver then crashed into the oncoming car. I submit that the driver is every bit as dangerous as the cyclist. It's just they have different weapons.

Why do you think that little is being done?

Have you read up on police and security initiatives?

What is your issue with them?

A few more murderous gang thugs hauled before the courts would be a start.
"end of"

the intelligent way to end an argument....

what on earth is a zombie knife? i can understand him being angry the driver was dangerous but attacking someone with a knife is not acceptable.

It is amazing how some wish to equal the blame, just the same as they do when Muslim terrorists are up for criticism, yes they say but what about the IRA,
Yes, the d***head should not have driven at the cyclist, all too often motorists seem to have it in for cyclists these days, BUT why did the cyclist have such a huge knife on him?? Both very much in the wrong, but the motorist started it ...
It looks like the tail-end of an earlier confrontation to me. The car is in standing traffic and the cyclist is stopped alongside him saying something towards the driver. It is at this point the car-driver tries to round the car in front and drive away.......and that's when the knife comes out.
That's what it looks like to me... a gang-related altercation.

I think that was also what spicerack thought when he said.

'' Brave chaps who got off the bus and ran towards the incident.''

Clearly, they knew the cyclist and or driver of the car.
