"There are reportedly fears on the EU side that a post-Brexit British economy, freed from the burden of EU regulation, will be able to suck jobs and investment out of Europe." - pity the VB over here don't have the same confidence in Britain that the EUSSR seem to have.

Thanks, jackdaw. Haven't heard that for years - perhaps that is part of the problem. Given that a hundred years have passed, the basic sentiment is still the same - we don't have to be bossed around by anyone. Our youngsters need to hear these things and not the universal 'all friends together' pap that is drizzled out in lemon icing by remainers. Yes, I want to be friends with European countries - but I also want to stand tall and independent and be able to accept their ideas or not. We have allowed belief in self and country to atrophy - to our shame. A bit of self-belief a.k.a. patriotism is a good thing. (Before anyone starts on me - I'm not advocating the right-wing extremist organisations!)
> The Left and their lickspittling toadies will never forgive us

Left of what, exactly, when the majority (184/323) of Tory MPs voted Remain?

Also the 11 Labour MPs who voted Leave shows that this is not and was not ever a Left/Right issue. Corbyn wants Brexit so he can get back to nationalisation and state aid, for example ...
lol, TTT, I have listened to both my links. I have transcribed them. Want to tell me which one is troubling your hearing aid?
jno, there's a reason The Independent is a failed paper.
The EU has been having accession talks with Turkey for years.
It is a bit tricky, a hard-line Islamist country with 3% of its land mass in Europe, but even the wasteful EU wouldn't have given them £5-10 billion ACCESSION funding unless they intended them to access.
2 problems with your veto argument. EU rules are set in blanc-mange, as we've seen time & time again. David Cameron, PM at the time, was vewy, vewy angry at the length of time it was taking for Turkey to join. Their joining was vital to the economy of this country.
Now, I know he was/is a liar but he had the power.
Old Geezer

// There was never a suggestion by the leave campaign to pay £350m each week to the NHS, as has been pointed out umpteen times. It was never written on the bus, that was remainer misinformation //

The slogan on the bus was:
“We pay the EU £350million a week
Let’s fund our NHS instead”

Looks like a lie to me. If it was merely a suggestion, it was a blatantly misleading suggestion. After we pay the EU nearly £40 BILLION there ill be NOTHING left for extra NHS funding.
//Let’s fund our NHS instead”//

By how much. I cannot see anywhere it says "Lets spend it all on our NHS".

Not clear either way maybe but anyone with 2 brain cells would not want £350m a week extra spent on the NHS, or anything else for that matter.

Perhaps we should discuss the £9m of tax payers money spent on Remain propaganda which was equally vague?
" anyone with 2 brain cells would not want £350m a week extra spent on the NHS, or anything else for that matter."

Why did the Leave Campaign say on huge billboards that it would be then?

THECORBYLOON,

Don’t confused people by showing evidence and the truth. They are not the slightest bit bothered that they were lied to. On the contrary, they themselves repeat the lie, then deny they have said it. Bad winners.
Perhaps more to the point, why find the one occassion where photos show that. Obviously some minor supporter got it wrong when told to create posters, and it wasn't caught in time. Willing to believe they were torn off a massive strip for that, when it was noticed afterwards. It was never common and never part of any stated official aim, as everyone knows; but I guess it's dragged up again and again after folks suddenly realised the bus said nothing of the sort, despite the lies about it claiming it did. Must be a gift to find one idiot got something wrong once and try to claim that proves it was a promise/policy, but it can only fool the already converted.

The German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has certainly wound his neck in.
It is all they have left Geezer, their arguments are akin to twisting in the wind. Everybody back on the bus. :))

Obviously you are talking utter bulls*t.

If you are going to make up an excuse, as least make some attempt to make it believable. That is not how campaigns work. The poster was part of Vote Leave’s official campaign, and was criticised by the Statistics Watchdog at the time.

There were many arguments before voting day about the £350M and how misleading it was, so it's little wonder it's "dragged up again and again" now, especially when specifically asked to point out lies. It was always the obvious big one.
Question Author
potentially misleading? only to non English speakers.
// Let’s give the NHS the £350 million the EU takes every week //

Agreed. You’d have to be really thick to misinterpret that statement.
I never talk what you claim, and don't need to make excuses. Everyone knows it was never pushed as policy and if a few idiots made the claim well one can not control everyone's actions. Please don't judge me by your own standards.
// Let’s give the NHS the £350 million the EU takes every week //

I'm trying very hard to see the alternative meaning of the above .
I'll let you know when i do
Your second link clearly is criticizing lack of clarity re the figure. It makes no claim that it's all for the NHS.
"It was always the obvious big one."

Err correction, "It was always the obvious indisputable truth, that remainers tried to spin, and remains so."
That's not under discussion Baz, as I'm sure you're well aware. That was the daft posters that I suspect most were totally unaware of prior to the vote. Under discussion is what was elsewhere, such as on the bus. i.e. the genuine message that was continually pushed by the leavers.
