Completely shafted. There was a meme doing the social media rounds in a ' if we don't laugh we'll cry' kind of way which addressed this very point. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CluE0m2XIAEPcQG.jpg
I'd laugh if that weren't so prophetic kvad.
compared with 71% of under-25s who voted Remain

Oh dear, maybe if more under 25's had bovvered to vote then there would be no brexit.
Well, we can't come and save the world all the time. Clearly we're too busy making stupid Star Trek references :/
Everyone is going to die soon. See how many are left a mere 150 years from now. It's an 'unreasonable appeal to the emotions', argument. It implies only the youngest and most inexperienced should make decisions because they're likely to be around longer.
Didn't know that the ages of voters were known.
There not, Davemano.
Young people in the UK have been comprehensively shafted by their parents' generation anyway, regardless of Brexit.
Thanks Tony - just what I thought.
OG, again I disagree. It implies that the oldies had a chance, without prolonged consequences for them, to stick two fingers up at the establishment.

Your 'wee all gonna die' argument is silly. The young have more of their lives left. Much more.
“I've yet to meet an under 35 year old who voted for brexit.”

You should get out more, anne. Most of those who thought for themselves, did some research and made a reasoned decision (instead of partaking in “yooffull groupthink” or succumbing to EuroBrainwashing) voted to leave (as did many over 35s). I have a number of younger friends and relatives. Under my careful guidance and mentoring they did what was right for the nation (and their future).

“I think he's saying the young will have to live with the consequences of Brexit for far longer than the elderly.”

Very true. And when they live out their lives they will soon come to thank the “Old Fogies” for releasing them from the shackles that are the EU.

It’s a strange philosophy that says the old folk voted to leave because they had so little time left on God’s Earth that they didn’t care for the consequences (even though the vast majority of them have children and grandchildren upon whom they dote mercilessly). So why did they bother to vote at all then?

I always considered Cable to be a silly old git. This latest diatribe confirms my earlier suspicions.

Quite a lot of ''The Old Folk'' can also remember Great Britain before the common market / EU, NJ.
Indeed tony. And that's why they voted to leave for the sake of their children and grandchildren (who were not blessed with such historical first-hand experience).
Exactly, NJ.
"I think he's saying the young will have to live with the consequences of Brexit for far longer than the elderly."
Very astute, no wonder he's a has-been.
Vince Cable has always had a head full of tripe and this is the first time he's been sure about anything - but it's taken him a long time to get to full throttle, coincidentally with his big chance to become a party leader....a convenient peg. He should also know that older people think of little else but their children and grandchildren, but the Metropolitan elite have a facility for ignoring the real world and living as though closeted in some sort of Sunday supplement existence.

Wot !, no never. public school, oxbridge uni and then a nice little ''Old School Tie'' job in the city.
The 'all going to die' argument is just factual, and the logical extension of the drivel used by folk like Cable that it's the future generations that are most affected by the actions of past generations.

I used to think Cable was an astute fellow but it has long been apparent that he merely got lucky with a prediction once and has been able to ride an enhanced reputation based on it since. But the jig is up.
I have to say that most younger people I have spoken to, voted to stay and most people voted to leave. Just seen the mistake in post !
