Perhaps in those countries that are not so acceptive to homosexuality, but surely there is now no longer need here?

“…wander to somewhere along the route of the march. You'll both be very welcome and have an excellent time. :o)” Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my...

On the generations and how accepting or not they are....
Back in the late 60's, my lovely older brother started dating a Cuban lady...and her skin was not the same colour as that of our family. My Italian mum, and my dad who was from the Deep South, didn't bat an eyelid. My mum was deeply hurt by the sister who rejected her "favourite" nephew when he decided to marry this wonderful woman. Mum really did not understand such attitudes...live and let live was her motto.

This is a strange thread. It has a sort of magnetism about it.
"I'll bet he now wishes he had voiced his opinion with manners..... "
I have no such wishes, gness. I stand by what I said. I'm sorry if anybody takes offence from anything I say but make no apologies for saying it as I have no control over what people take offence from.
The problem with many people is that they take offence at all sorts of things, sometimes on their own behalf and sometimes on behalf of others whom they may or may not know.
I don't set out to be deliberately rude or offensive but I will be robust in presenting my arguments. As a result some people of a delicate disposition may, from time to time, be offended. I will say, in my defence, that in some 12,000-odd answers I don't think I've ever had a contribution deleted. So I can't be all bad.

i cant be bothered to read all 457 answers, but to answer the original post, no, i don't believe there is a "need" for this type of parade as the majority of people (i would posit) either accept others or at the very least dont particularly care. However, there is never a "need" for a party or celebration of anything, but it's nice and fun all the same!
