Perhaps in those countries that are not so acceptive to homosexuality, but surely there is now no longer need here?

I thought that "Pride" a celebration of gay life, not a justification for it ?
AOG....I know the the Orange Order exists...and The Legion of Mary... the Rothwell Carnival procession......the Kimbolton CCF.....but I don't object to them parading once or twice a year....
Even the Orange Order..... :-)
Lmao @ not even the orange order!!
“It doesn’t matter who you love or how you love, but that you love.”

To be precise.

Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my priority was trying to circumvent the many hundreds of assorted weirdos and creeps marching along with their faces and hair painted a variety of colours and to make my way through the throngs who had, inexplicably, turned out to witness the lunacy. An “excellent time” was not quite how I’d describe that experience and I was (considerably) late for an important engagement.

I don’t quite know why people feel the need to take to the streets for matters such as this. Surely they can sit at home and “Tweet” to each other or send “Selfies” to their friends or whatever it is they do. If they really see the need to gather outdoors there are plenty of places they can do so where they will not inconvenience people trying to conduct their lives in one of the most congested cities in the world.
Flamboyant sashes, flags, banners, white gloves all accompanied by piercing flute music.

Almost defines a gay parade.

Who knew? :)
If we ever were to need a reason for Pride to continue, then you only have to look at NJ's post !
And the moral of that, NJ......always leave yourself plenty of time for important engagements......tardiness is not admirable...... :-(
no need but it's s free country.
No "Best Answer" for me then? :(-
I did leave myself plenty of time, gness, but since I make a point of glossing over or ignoring anything I see or hear about "LGBT" (or whatever it is) issues and events, I had no idea that a large part of Central London was to be brought to a halt that day.
Even if there weren't a need, I expect it would carry on anyway. People would just "want" to enjoy themselves.

Looks like background reports and previous good works get you a pass on the usual outpourings reserved for any who waver from the accepted line of some on matters homosexual, New Judge. :)

Gentle chiding is not the norm.

As always New Judge.
I don't see you glossing over or ignoring it, NJ......you're quite verbose on AB.....

If I'm planning a trip to London I look to see what will be happening that day and, as I did when arranging a coach trip to a show, plan my route and timings to fit......
To not do this when visiting any large city is rather lackadaisical....x

That may well be, but generally they don't leave it to others to foot the bill, for their events.

//No "Best Answer" for me then? :(-// - Come now, you knew you had that in the bag with 'Weirdos and creeps', stop fibbing.♥
Who are "others" in your post, AOG? If you mean taxpayers, I'd like to point out that the LGBT community isn't yet tax-exempt.
About 20 years ago I was passing a pub just off Baker Street where hundreds of rugby league supporters were drinking outside prior to getting the train to Wembley for the cup final. It was the same day as Pride. Just as I was passing them two very small gay chaps came around the corner hand in hand and wearing lederhosen. Every single supporter started laughing, bellyaching laughter, but nobody said anything. Not PC I know, but it was the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Aww, ironic this has turned into another aog & NJ love-in :-)
