With the recent headlines little if any coverage has been given to Mrs May's determination to leave Euratom as well as leaving the EU !
I suspect very few realise the consequences of such a decision.

Put simply Euratom controls the entire European stocks of and access to Nuclear fuel!
Once out of Euratom , Euratom is a separate entity to the EU and we have been in Euratom since 1959, we no longer have access to fuel for our newly commissioned ,French / Chinese built, nuclear power plants!

So what do you want jim to put eddie's mind at rest about?
Well when jim posted

The point I'm trying to make is that you still have to address the issue. That's not the same as saying that it can't be addressed.

I don't think jim was talking about the leaving of the EU If you have read the thread you would know what EDDIE thinks we 'CAN NOT' do.
Do wish people would get it in their skulls that we're leaving and deal with it. The endless whinge is pointless. Here are the problems X, Y and Z and we are going to deal with them, because we're grown-ups in one of the most successful economies on earth.
Talbot. I've re read Eddies comments and I can't find one where he says we 'can't' do anything. Could you point one out?
scooping - no one has said we're not leaving. At least not on this thread.
Zacs: So stop moaning about it.

Still no answers then!
Just more, sour grapes and it will all work out ?
Without Euratom we CAN NOT buy, use, sell or process fuel for, or the waste products from, our present and future Nuclear power stations! Nor can we access radioisotopes for medical / cancer treatment and diagnosis !
No. Sorry. I won't, because i believe it will have serious repercussions on our wealth and standing as a nation.
Talbot. That has yet to be proved to be a fact, either way.
Even if we realy needed to be in Eurotom it is not an EU institution anyway. Geographically or otherwise the EU and Europe are not the same thing. I bet Switzerland is in Euratom. So it's just another na na nana non question from the SGB who want to make difficulties where none exist. Where are we going to get our straight bananas now!? What a load of old pony, let's get on with implementing what the people voted for and stop all this bellyaching.
Do you think without all this 'bellyaching' TTT ... we could be out in a week?
when I change banks I cancel all the DDs and wait for the moaning then deal with each in turn. If I don't do that I end up paying double that month for most things and end up skint and have to spend months sorting it out. I suggest the former offers the best solution.

Zacs that^^ was Eddie @ 16:17 Thurs. As you say that has yet to be proved as a fact. Talbot was quoting Eddie.
Zacs; You come over as actually wanting failure.
// i believe it will have serious repercussions on our wealth and standing as a nation.//

Britain's "standing as a nation" goes back for 1,000 years, during which time it has undergone extraordinary unparalleled achievements. Regaining its sovereignty, which has been robbed from it by stealth by the unelected Brussels bureaucrats, is really the issue, not bickering about trade deals and minor negotiations about nuclear power plants.

You have to surmise I feel, Khandro, that a lot of the remainers, and subsequent finders of obstacles, perhaps do not see Great Britain as their spiritual heritage at all and possibly have non British recent heritage. Who knows?

Togo, I have traced my English ancestry back to the 1600s , when my family owned a shipping line based in Bristol. They sent many people to the USA , Canada and Australia on sailing ships!
I think I am 'British' !
That Eddie makes it even more puzzling. The 1750s is as far as I have got, on both maternal and paternal sides. A shipping line in Bristol,.... perhaps it is a belated guilt trip on their behalf. (^_*)

^ ???

I am pretty sure though I can't find any proof, that 'my' shipping line was heavily involved in both the Slave trade and Transportation to Australia. So yes my family has a 'past'
I know that the shipping line was active from the mid 1600s to 1850.
Meanwhile, spot the difference:

“The point I'm trying to make is that you still have to address the issue. That's not the same as saying that it can't be addressed.” [Jim]

“Without Euratom we CAN NOT buy, use, sell or process fuel for, or the waste products from, our present and future Nuclear power stations! Nor can we access radioisotopes for medical / cancer treatment and diagnosis !” [Eddie]

Note the capital letters. There is nothing ambiguous about Eddie’s contention. There are no “ifs, buts or maybes”. And it’s clearly nonsense because nations that are not members of Euratom source atomic material and there is no reason why the UK cannot do likewise. He makes the common mistake of confusing Europe with the EU (and in this case with Euratom):

“Put simply Euratom controls the entire European stocks of and access to Nuclear fuel!”

No it does not. It controls the stock utilised by its members and that’s a different matter entirely.
