I've seen that a lot in the replies and posts on here since Monday night. One man on the radio this morning, a former senior member of COBRA, said the answer is to deport all those with known connections to terrorism. Even if there isn't enough evidence to bring them to trial. If their activities have brought them to the attention of the security forces, they should be deported without any questions being asked. Summary dismissal!

Apologies for not reading all the previous posts, but what I would do is construct a huge building in a very secluded part of the UK, and put all the ones who were born in this country that are likely to carry out attacks, in it, and deport the rest. It would be a building where they cannot escape and where they would spend the rest of their days.
It would need to be more secure than Alcatraz then.
Barsel.....Isle of Man ?
Don’t get on your Muslim-hugging high horse with me Mikey. (11.29). Nor speak to me like I’m a thicko.

I’m well aware that UK born nationals cannot be deported, but the question was “what would you do?” Well, that IS what I would do. How about you?
Bigbad...don't be childish. You have admitted that what you are suggesting is not practical, but still insist that you would deport these people anyway....a bit of an empty gesture then isn't it ?

I would get the security forces to admit that they have dropped off in this case, and at the same time, they can say that after the loss of 20,000 staff, they haven't got the manpower anymore.

Smart intelligence is the way forward in this matter.
I would get the security forces to admit that they have dropped off in this case

That's it sorted then.
Well done , mikey.
I didn’t make a gesture, I gave an opinion, just like 10Clarion St asked for, and it would work a lot better than your idea.

How would you get the security services to admit their error? Sit down with a nice cup of tea? Tickle them until they could stand no more? Threaten them with a bomb?

Even if another 20,000 staff were employed today, they would still be overstretched.

Your head appears to be very firmly buried in the sand, Mikey. Drastic measures are called for, and if that upsets a few people along the way, then tough luck.
Drastic, unworkable and impracticable measures .......way to go BB !
agchristie it would wouldn't it. An island would be a good idea Mikey but not the Isle of Man. They are probably still getting over what happened to them in World War 2. An island in shark invested waters might work. :-)
Yeah,give 'em Rockall!

/// aog, as far as I'm aware, action was taken. He was put on the watch list, wasn't he? That's what they do. :o/ ///

Then obviously he wasn't watched enough, perhaps they should either remove their rose tinted glasses or take their heads out of the sand?
Yes, Mikey. Your ideas are unworkable and impracticable. Unfortunately, not drastic, though.
So, go on, then how do you get the security services to admit an error?
The fear some have, and perhaps understandably, is that drastic measures might serve to exacerbate the problem.
AOG....we are in danger of agreeing here !

There is no danger mikey, just a pleasant change, keep it up, it is so beneficial to one's country and it's people, holding 'RIGHT' ideals.
Er....?

Thanks AOG !
I don't care where they send them, if they are a threat, send them as far away as poss., preferably to an isolated island somewhere and let them rot, as others have mentioned. We have GOT to stop being soft .....!
if Germany can and has deported undesirables, even though born in Germany, then so can we. If of Pakistani, Iranian, or other origin then they should be deported if on the security forces radar.
If we deported the 12000 Muslims on the watch list, would it decrease or increase the threat of terrorism in the UK?

It would clearly reduce the immediate risk, but would it increase the long-term risk? Italy has been deporting more suspected of being involved in terrorism this last couple of years, but it is a bit soon to judge how successful that has been.
