It doesn't matter where you are in the world - there will always be people who want to do you over. All I can say is that I feel far safer in London than I do in some other places in Europe and the rest of the world. I remember when I was sunbathing on Copacabana beach and the police shot a thief right next to me. Lovely. Oh, and when we had a gun pointed through the slightly opened window of our taxi in Mexico City.

I know a number of people who would have been more than happy if the thieving bar stewards who stole their belongings had been shot by the police - especially if they were standing next to them.

Surely 'hammers on wheels' must be new to London though. The police need to nip that in the bud as forcefully as possible, or it'll get as commonplace as the knife and gun crime seems to be being allowed to. This violent crime must be clamped down on as a priority.
